The installation of wider than stock tires can often dramatically increase cornering power, but the trade-off is an increased tendency for the rear axle assembly to wander around as it pleases. You can find evidence of this by looking for signs of tire rub on the inner side of the fenders which will appear even when there appears to be plenty of static clearance. We at Mini Mania have designed and tested our own Axle Stabilizer Bar. By forming a triangle between the rear springs and the body, this lateral link eliminates side to side motion of the rear axle assembly, while reducing the tendency of the rear axle to wind up during braking and acceleration. Detailed step-by-step instructions and diagrams are included to insure trouble-free installation with common tools and without welding!!
