Oversize intake valve, 1.4" dia, 3.57" long for 1275 head.
As it is possible, even common, to swap one head for another on 1275 Mini Cooper engines, it is quite easy to become confused, or worse yet, confuse the parts-guy when it is time to order new valves! Be aware that if the head has been worked on previously, it may have oversized valves or undersized seats. Unless you are 100% sure what is in your cylinder head, it is a good idea to remove a valve for accurate measurement. There are two lengths used (nominally 3.44" & 3.56") three different keepers, (wide, narrow, and three-groove) and many different head diameters! These valves are in stock at Mini Mania! Also fits the Sprite , and MG Midget .

Call them cotters, collets or keepers, these little items are often overlooked during a head rebuild. If yours are worn and need to be replaced, make sure you order the right ones. Minis used three different versions over the years.
Austin MIni CYLINDER HEAD - Valves; shapes, materials,& finishes.
Created: October 19, 2000
Many moons ago, the standard performance valve shape was the then-ubiquitous 'penny-on-a-stick' profile. For the very good and simple reason it minimised airflow obstruction by having the least amount of material in the way. Very plausible, and a design that many have stayed with to this day
