I vote for gold plated, and have a front tooth capped in gold, and a big gold chain with a BMC logo hanging from it, and a gold Mini earing to complete the look.

Do not powder coat it! someone i know (not me) did this to an SU set and rendered them useless turns out the pot metal cannot stand high heat without distorting.

Yeah, I guess I was just looking to play around. Very true though. I do the coating myself so its free as I have all the stuff just hanging around. Once my trans has had its rebuild, I will be back to getting my car on the road. I think I just was looking for something to do to feel productive. Haha, guess not.

If you really want to sell it, leave it alone. color is surely one thing that will kill a deal if it's the wrong color. Let the new owner paint it or not. Also, powder coating is almost irreversable and I'd say on the carb, even the cover it's permanent until it comes undone by itself.

Sell it as is for a bit less, and keep the money you would have spent on powdercoating as part of the realized profit.

Good point. 400 might be a little hot for them. Maybe just the top cover then?

As for the manifold, what would be a "best seller" color choise? Currently I have wrinkle black, high gloss, flat and semi (which matches under hood black). I think it was orange when it came on the car. A little much if you ask me.

Hello. One of the 1100 owners decided to powder coat the dashpots on a pair of su's. warped them. ended up painting another set instead. 400 degrees is too much for a carb.

I say no. Bare metal. Polished maybe, but not painted.

I have a weber 45 sitting is a box. Believe it or not it came on my 66 Cooper 998!!! Talk about overkill right. So, its been sitting in a box for ages and I was thinking about taking it out, striping it down and powder coat it. Has anyone tried this or think it would be cool? I am thinking of selling it but figured the new owner would like a nice fresh look rather then where it is at now.

The idea would be to do the body in Rally Wheel Silver and the top and manifold in wrinkle black something a little different and cool. What do you think? Ever seen anything like that?
