After revewing this thread, I began to wonder, why is it a "123" electronic ignition. Seems more logical to have at least called it a "1234" dizzy. (or maybe I've had too much maple syrup today..........)

(Pssst... don't say it... the correct order is 1342 or 3421 or 2134 or 4213. The original poster's ordder is OK>
As Cup Cake says, some 123 dizzys, from the factory, have the drive coupling on 180 degrees out. Mine was OK as received.
Another variable is that the Mini's dizzy drive shaft (driven off the camshaft) can be not in sync. The gear teeth may be off several teeth. Mine was off by 2 or 3 teeth, with the result that vacuum advance pot of the distributor would hit something on the block. Easy fix.

Do you have a 123 distributer? That's what I ended up with with my 123. I installed the drive twice CORRECTLY as far as I'm concerned so I'm convinced the drive lug is out 180. Easy enough to change but why bother.

The wire order is correct on the distributor; although, technically, 180 degrees out to match up to a distributor drive 180 degrees out, so it all works.
The numbers you show for the engine are backwards.

I know there have been threads about this, so I'll take a look, and return with the link, if I find it.
Found it: Order should be: 1,3,4,2 counter clockwise with #1 plug closest to the radiator. If all is right with the world*, rotor should line up at about 2:00 at TDC

Hey all , My 79 mini was in need of a tune up and something struck me as wierd. where my plugs go into the my cylinder head I would say are
1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
but my wires from my distributor cap connect in this order
2 | 4 |
1 | 3 |
is this right? It seems to me that 3 and 4 should be switched. Am I wrong ? can some one please tell me the right order.
Thanks
