You might want to talk to vintage racer and engine builder Ward Barbour about six inch rods. He's not on this forum, though you can message me for his contact info.

Keith has three available, if you can find a single one... you will have a set.

Not news to me as it took me years as well.
Sometimes builds by you just were not meant to be obviously.

Funny how long it takes to collect parts for a build. I'd still like to find a good used set of 6 inch rods for a S based 1.625 journal std. pin dia build. Most of the new ones are for a special piston pin dia. Thanks for taking a look. Steve (CTR)

Maybe I should have been clearer. By S, I mean 1.625 rod journals. The crank has A+ thrust spacing and 1071 stroke with the small rod journals. I have spoken with Paulter and other suppliers. I have also spoken with UK engine builders who seem to think 6 inch rods are old school and not used much any longer. I'm just trying to recycle something that may be out there. Thanks

The confusion might be because its been so long since they made the S cranks, its hard to find modern stuff still made for the old cranks.  The typical Arrow race rod for the later bigger-journal crank is 5.75" center to center.  But 6" rods are out there, Pauter still makes a 6" S rod in 4340.

I know it's a long shot but need to ask. I have read and been told that the one time popular 6 inch rod sort of fell from grace and does not get used in current top of the line builds. I have the parts that came with my 64 1071 S and they are 177 rods I think. That will be restored correctly and go in a street car. I have also been able to buy a high quality 1071 race crank not yet used. It was built with A+ thrust spacing. I have a spare A+ block with 4 bolt center steel cap. Rather than chop a ton off the top I'm thinking of 6 inch rods. This will be a high RPM vintage race unit for what should be my last personal racer. If I'm not on the track by age 65 I'll can the project. If you have a set of rods and want to part with or trade please let me know.
