My friend Dean recognized the car also.  It used to belong to Sean Tarpy who was trying to sell the car for a LOT of money.  It is not an -S.  It is a copy/clone of a ralley car.

The link below is to an old listing where Sean was trying to sell the car.

There is a picture link on the page linked above if you want to see more pictures of the car in its "before" state.  If the seller is/has-been parting the car out there is no telling what will be left when he actually sells the car.

It would be a very rare MK2 S without a right hand tank. Steve (CTR)

Jedduh01,

My question would be: If he's not a Mini guy how does he know so much about it, like the build of the motor and the miles? I would think a Se7en engine build with only 2500 miles would look better than that one does.

I'd check with Se7en first on the build, that is unless he has paper work then all is good.

Just from the seller, I offered to still come this weekend if still around. He keeps dangling info in front of me.

From Seller: " Ok, I will tell you if buyer #2 falls through. I can't offer even the parts for much less than I am asking now, thanks to what everyone is asking. The engine will be out in less than an hour. I pulled most everything else out around it. I would help you yank it all up here, too, and get you out of here ASAP "

Sounds to me like hes Parting it out. I wouldn't be suprised if he lets the wrecking company for scrap metal come tow it away once he gets some cash for the motor.

I too believe its a Mk2 S car--- Tall Bean can on the Master Cyl. Chrome in just the right places on the interior too.

Shame...

Waiting to see this show up here... Being Less than 2 hours from me this was on my radar. Had an appt to go see the car this Saturday AM - with tow equipment ready.

Seller is in no way a mini person - As seller says , car was abandoned on his property and he just wants it gone. Short story of it is- there is no title. Abondoner declared bankruptsy and the courts deemed it not worthy. The owner never titled it in his name either and would take some hoops o get a NC title for it too. This seller sold off the easy stuff- Seats and engine acessories- but lost interest in the market. Not knowing about MM either.

Lots of good items there to part out - but shame to see 80% of a complete car be parted for what should be a nice ride (besides Ugly). Sure the car could be titled again- but would take the buyer some effort.

When i was talking to the seller Monday / Tuesday - he had it for 3k - last night- revised price $4500. Due to heavy interest. That turned me off right there.

First come first serve- GO GET IT!

Looks like it may be a MK II Cooper but the dash rail is not covered, shame he sold off a few of the decent bits (servo, grille, distributor, radiator, seats, carpet etc) and didn't try and sell it complete first.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Mini project in Raleigh, NC - was passed along to me by a friend.  I am not affiliated with the car and I have no further info or knowledge of the car than what is listed.  Just posting for the board's information. Link here
