I am unsure, I believe it's a 1970 - but, maybe it was upgraded?

Forward clutch is the 1st thing to go in the automatics and it's an easy fix.
Engine/transmission needs to be pulled from the car, but access to this clutch is thru the big end cover below the crank pulley. You can R&R it with the rest all still assembled.

If you want these clutches to last, change the oil often (every 1500 miles or so) and filter every 3000.

A more fundamental concern you might want to address first is that it is an illegal import.

Hi all,

I'm thinking about purchasing a classic automatic Mini, but from what I have heard it needs a new forward clutch.  I'm unsure if there are more issues with the engine or transmission.  It is a 1.3i Kensington model.

Are there any mechanics in California that will work on automatics?

I've done a little bit of searching thru the forums, but would love any and all input.

Thank you!
