I have been looking at photos of the MK1 heaters and my heater does not seem to look the same. Were there more than 1 style of heater, I know mine has the fan under the hood. I would post pictures, but it currently is in pieces as I am restoring it. Could some one with a Smiths heater with the blower motor under the hood please post some pictures?

Hi-Jack:
Is my fan on backwards
As you may see...the arrow, I'm guessing, is to indicate direction of travel. But, when hooked to a battery it spins the other way.
You might want to start a new thread. DC Motor, so logic says just reverse the leads right? Try that first! If it does not work you're in many hours of craziness trying to figure it out like I did. I ending up re-soldering/reversing the brush contact points. Logic did not apply but I got it spinning the right direction. Lucas.
BTW, another A++ for Ron. He did my faceplate and ears about 2.5 years ago and crackle and screen work is beautiful!

I have quite a few slide style heaters, but havent restored them yet. I am still looking for early mk1 heaters, and the box ones look interesting. Right now I am looking for a heater switch, the stainless toggle type that goes on the bottom part of the heater. Any parts of heaters, ears, faceplates, etc. let me know.

Ron got mentioned in the latest Classic Motorsports magazine. He rebuilt the heater for the 67 Cooper S they are doing.
Good job Ron

LOL the arrow direction is wrong. If it went the arrow way it would have to pump air from the outside inward. That would take some serious compression.

Me Three!
I sent my Mk1 Cooper S plates and covers to Ron for the treatment. They are spot-damn-on. Absolutely first class, thank you Ron!
I should have paid Ron for the whole heater rehab price too, btw. I'm dealing with the reassembly now and it's a PITA.
Ron, fix your incoming email router thing-a-ma-jig and you are golden. Given a bit of time for the world to find you and you'll be THE GUY for this stuff!
Thanks,
cw

If anyone is interested my Mk1 heater is in good enough shape, just needs spiffing up and the mcmanron treatment. And a core. Don't know why it's green. Missing the front panel as shown.
I replaced it with MM's T7, much better and smaller but not original of course.

Ron does great work! I had him powder coat (and screen) faceplate and ears on mine quite a while ago. A++. I spend a lot of time like 15+ hours rebuilding my original heater/motor/housing etc.
Considering the detail time and hours you will spend Ron has a great product. J
