Also i have run into (when a car sat for a while) where the plunger stuck/bound up in the side cover, some penetrating oil cured it.
If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Terry, I have run into pedal assemblies that dry up and stick on the pivot bolt. Try WD 40 with a tube to get up there and spray a little where the two padals meet and at the frame on either side. Not sure that's the problem but it is an area you did not mention. Steve (CTR)

My car's clutch pedal has developed some stickiness on return.
It is like the last 1/2 inch of return. After I release I will hear a little thump a few seconds after taking my foot off.
I replaced the slave a few months back and rebuilt the master at the same time. The slave hose is a Goodrich. I replaced all the physical components at the clutch end and I thought I replaced the clevis pin at the pedal end. At first I thought it was a mechanical issue with the pedal linkage, but it won't do it when I push by hand to look closely at it. I cannot see anyplace where it couldbe binding.
