That is strange. My original ones are nice and glossy and let me tell you. That picture I posted is of the original bonnet that has been sitting outside, out in the open for years now. Its all busted up from the deer run in but I wanted to keep it so I had a good ref to where exactly the Monte badge goes.

I wiped off the dirt and grime and they seem to still be fairly shiny. To me, glossy makes the most sense. I'd imagine Rover wanted them to look like they were somewhat painted on. When I stuck on the matte ones, it looks so off. I started wondering if I should have just had them painted?

I just bought a set of Diamond white stripes from Somerford Minis. I spoke with them a bit ago and they said they have very good quality stripes. If they dont stack up, I'm going to give Wood & Pickett a try. Those better be right for the price they ask for them!!

As mine were original they may have faded but they looked more of a satin finish than gloss. I would just match them to the roof color you have as they all seem to look different to me even the originals depending on the location of the world they have come from and whether they were stored inside or not.

I owned the same car as yours but red / white and it was original with the stripes matching the roof.

Well, I really want them to be as close to original as possible. as there aren't too many monte's out there I wabred mine to be the way if left the factory. vinyl decals and all. I also have a full set of oem monte decals. Two actually. Never know?

so, from what I have read, my monte has a diamobd white roof. I just dont know why it had stripes that looked to be old English and wonder if others with monte Carlos are the same. Looks like W& and another carry the stripes. OE stripes cost 3x more so I want to figure out what to get. Thanks guys!

As you have the patterns go to a sign shop and have some made in the white and texture you want, they can also replicate the Monte Carlo stickers too.

White diamond is pretty pure white.  Why not have them painted on and be done with it?

As I get my car back into original shape, one of the last things is the decals. I wanted to apply the bonnet stripes. I had two different brands of white stripes. I applied one side and it looked terrible. The white wasnt right at all and neither was the finish. They were a satin finish. Originally, the cars stripes were always glossy. Went to the next pair and the same thing.

So, I searched around and I found the glossy stripes I am after. Not easy for some reason??? My question is on the color. What would have been fitted to a 1994 Rover? Everything I read says it should be White Diamond 2 (Dupont Code: F1413). The stripes that are on the old hood are not nearly as bright white as what I was sent from both Mini Spares and Mini Sport. See pic.

I just want to get this car back to exactly where it was. Also, I dont want to waste a rare, original Monte decal on some cheap bonnet stripes as it overhangs on the left stripe.

You can see from the pictures how different the colors are and how matte the stripes are that they sell. They look terrible and are so cheap/thin. Wood & Pickett has glossy stripes in white Diamond and OEW. Just not sure what I have. How "bright" is Diamond?
