Also have someone give you a test drive in a well sorted Mini with a 1275 on 10" wheels.

That said, I stand by previous recommendations for a D-Series conversion. More than that can put you into an area of over powered and just for bragging rights.

Unless you just want to build one yourself, you should consider strongly the idea of buying one already sorted. there is just such a car on this forum right now.

Put your location in your forum profile. There are VTEC owners that would hook you up with a test drive depending on where abouts you happen to be.

Thanks for the tips! I am looking to build it myself, to me thats the best part. If I decide to do the VTEC swap is it farily easy to build my own subframe, I am proficient at welding and have all the required equipment but as far as fit up and dimensions is it fairly stright forward.

I am new to the mini world, but I found a body that has little rust and is in good shape. There is no engine or transmission so I was considering a VTEC engine for it. I've done a lot of research but I would like the opinions of those who have already been there and done that. Whats the best engine? What do I need to convert it, I know they make kits but what do I NEED and what is just a perk. Any info would help thank you in advanced.
