Good point Alex, silicone brake fluid can cause fast failure of a hydraulic brake switch, best in this case to switch to mechanical switch.

For most brake fluids the hydraulic switch works perfect.

The one i used is in stock here in Florida but has gone up in price slightly but still a little cheaper at $6.99, the part number is MPE SL169SB.

jedduh01,

Funny thing about that entry on the MOT page: I actually got that information from a posting years back on this very board! I even made sure to properly credit the source (user PTC1000) in the MOT article page.

I hope that whomever PTC1000 is/was, they are doing well and still enjoying their Mini.

Apparently : ACCEL 181101 is also a screw in replacement - used on harleys. Works.

Surprising as Napa has them for $5.29 i believe and they are normally more  expensive than Auto Zone.

Hydrolics are cheap, pedal driven can be had from any parts store, just ask for a two wire brake switch from camero or chevy luv, an make your own bracket.

Let us know if you find anything. You may have to tell them you have a mid 60s Austin Healey sprite, to get anything to pull up on their computers!

Does anybody know if you are talking about a mechanical or a hydraulic brake light switch?

Does anyone know if you can replace the brake light switch with something you can purchase at a local parts store.
