Thank you kindly, I would say our proximity makes Morristown, NJ the unofficial epicenter for NJ Classic Mini'ing.

I have also seen Will's Inno. He is essentially doing a complete Restoration. I am sure it will be gorgeous.

Hey All,

Here is the production spreadsheet from the defunct Innocenti Pages

BTW - Dave and I live fair close to each other, so that's 2 Innos within 10 miles of each other!  His car looks great.

Turned out there was just a theft under that VIN number for a trailer. I guess trailer VIN's are 6-digits. I am titled and registered and impatiently waiting delivery of my car. Should be here this afternoon.

Also, for anyone else, NJ no longer requires you to get any car inspected that was built before 1996. This is the only reason I am not getting QQ historic plates for this car. I don't know if other states are adopting similar laws but may be worth looking into. Especially, if you live in an area where cops like to give you a hard time.

TheWereWolf... Sorry to hear of your troubles. Dennis, the "title investigator", for Randolph DMV is in Randolph today. I plan on making an appearance in the afternoon so I can talk to him. That said, I'd take that number for the trenton office in case Dennis is less than helpful. However, you are right. I should have called Deb first. Don't know what I was thinking.
Not sure if you are confusing a State road worthiness inspection with a vin inspection. If you have to take it to them un registered just trailer it there or have it towed there. Some States will have a police officer come by your house and do the vin inspection. Good luck with Dennis.

dshal01..vin inspection   just the norm in most states..AND  they are too THICK to think back like malsal said.   they did NOT do 17 digits until 1980..btw I have contact name and number at NJ DMV special titles in trenton nj. might save you some time. and contact at the vin inspection location in Asbery Park NJ.. I had a fit getting an 1980  OZ moke registered last year.. took SIX months.. because some  STUPIC thought a moke was NOT road legal. because it did NOT have  doors and gas tank on the side.. wanted damn frame to protect the gas tank ect.. anyway. thanks to Debbie Franks.. she gave me list of over mokes REGISTERED in NJ. and problem went away in about 10 mins.. when I produced the moke NJ reg cards..  later  bc

Most DMV's will need to inspect the car and look at the main vin plus the second one which is stamped into the body when arriving from another State. You obviously need the car present to accomplish this.

Yeah I have the Chasis number. The car was titled and Registered under that number in California. I bought the car and am trying to transfer title to myself in NJ.

I know that this "title Investigator" just has to call the California DMV and make sure the title is legit.

I am more wondering if anyone has gone through this and how long it took. My car is supposed to arrive on Thursday.

Just trying my hardest not to have the car here and be unable to drive it because the DMV runs at the speed of smell.

The 17 digit format was not introduced until 1980. Innocenti Mini's i believe have the second vin stamped into the inner wing on the clutch side, they should be looking for a second vin number verification.

You should post the same question on the Inno forum and see if there is a response.

Anyone ever have a problem transferring Title after purchasing their Innocenti? I just went to the DMV to try and get all the paperwork done while I wait for my car to be delivered. My VIN is only 6- digits because it is an Innocenti. They are saying that the DMV title investigator has to Investigate.

I guess I am wondering if there is any information or anything I can do to help a poorly run state organization move faster so I can actually use my car once it arrives.

Another question, I know I am posting a lot but I am excited for my car's arrival and also trying to figure out what if anything I am over looking. Looks like there are no rear seat belts in the car. Were non export Innos fitted with rear seat belts? Looks like they perhaps were an option, not standard.

I am getting confused. If more models than the cooper 1300's were being built wouldnt that mean even less cooper 1300's could be built in that time. Or are you saying by the time '72 came around that the production ability was much greater.

It doesn't really matter. I just bought a '72 Innocenti Mini cooper 1300 non-export. Just trying to get the best idea of how rare it is. If it is 1 of 10,000 more or less I am still pretty happy.

Dshal01. If I understand your numbering estimate, I think you are missing out that other Innos were made during the same period as the so-called Cooper Mk I/II, and don't forget that Parnell is dealing only with the Cooper versions.  The Mini Minor Mk I 850 (B38/1) was built from Sep '65 to Sep '68. I've seen build numbers quoted at over 80,000. The Cooper Mk I 1000 (B39/1) was built from Mar '66 to Sep '68 with numbers around 12,000. And the Traveller Mk I 850 (G38/1) was built from Oct '66 to Aug '68 with numbers around 3600.
The same goes for the 1300 non-Export. During the time it was built, the Mini Matic (B38/3), the Mini 1001 (B38/8), and the Mini T 1000 (G39/7) were also built -- maybe about 25,000 cars.

So.... B39/7 would be a 1300 Export ?

cheleker:

I got Parnell's book which supports your dates but I didn't see anything about the amount of cars made for non-export 1300's.

It does say that it is believed that there were only 2,500 Mark I/II made because it was in production for only 7 months. Considering 1300 non-exports were only made for 13 months... I would think that number would be closer to 5,000.

Thoughts?
