I got out of the P cars just for that reason. The cost was going out the roof. I like the prices for these cars much more.

Yup, all the usual suspects. Those boards are full of trollers fishing for anything Porsche and prices are ballooning. Especially 356's, early 911's n 912, VW buses 67 and earlier. Even noticed that Super Beetles are getting popular. I can buy a complete 912 back east and practically sell the engine alone here for what I paid for the entire package. you post an ad on CL here and the same 4 guys will badger you to death. I want to get rid of mine at a decent price because itll start and stop, giving a chance for someone to finally find one before the sharks add their markup. I was looking at a complete running 912 Targa barn find at $7500 last year, $15 to $20k now. Yikes.

Nope, had this whole plan about building an Outlaw 911 from an SC Targa, had steel 930 flares, long nose fenders and hood, all kinds of the right bits and decided I'd never get to it, sold it in about 30 seconds ago and decided to go back to the stock 912. It is a total project, worth twice as much if it can be driven out of the barn. Was at a secret old school Lotus lab the other day and there she was, a rat Elise (built with other tracked wrecks) that is tracked constantly and decided (again) that's what I need. Raw baby. Midengined, Japanese fuel injected 6 spd at a third of the price of an NSX and clad in pretty repairable fiberglass British regalia. And I can commute in it. Only this time I have Lotus connections and a rapidly escalating Porsche marketplace. So let's do this. Gettin an Elise. Maybe. Got to wait for the right wreck at the right price. Will never be able to afford any of the fiberglass that was there (5 old Elites, Europas, Elans and some Climax fire pumps) Then there's the patina TR4 that whispers to me....
Have you looked on the samba or pelican boards? I used to find lots of good parts there back in my Porsche messing with days.

I'm guessing you're not talking about a turbo charged 350 Chevy like my friend built for his Targa? Full Carrera flares and whale tail too! I'll see if he has a pic (he sold it a few years back).
