Last woody I bought was an excellent tired original driver. 2200 pounds about ten years ago

Last woody I sold was 4500 pounds, strange mix of early woody and later 998 and later interior

Last woody I tried to buy was just retired and insanely nipple, 6k pounds offered and the guy would not sell it , again over ten years ago

You can't touch a decent woody or ultra low mile sport pack here in UK for less than 15k

I really should start importing them back

Jim:

This one was pretty complete when we purchased it. There may have been some deferred maintenance required, but that was about it. A few little changes here and there.

The other car, a tinnie(Ethel) has been off the road for almost 2 years now. Should be on the road by the end of the summer.

For cost reference, we purchased the other car(tinnie - Ethel) for about 14 K over ten years ago. Maybe a little high at the time, but the car had charm that captivated my wife(even though she was really looking for a woodie).

The original paint was starting to go after almost 50 years so we decided to redo about 2 years ago.

5 K plus Nick Upton Boot2Bonnet paint and body

5 K engine 7 Ent

4 K Newton interior and seats

2 K miscellaneous

So we are over 30 K and I am sure I have not included everything. It is just that I would never expect to recoup those costs in a sale. I would expect 20 K max if we maintain the car at its redone level.

Terry. first photos I've seen.  Absolutely gorgeous!  Wow, you are now officially excused for not attending our most recent MOASF rallyes and runs with that excuse of "still rebuilding".

What a beautiful project completion.  I know you and R have to be excited.  So, I look forward to meeting Lucy/Murphy at our next event.

Sorry for the semi-thread hijack.  Back to topic.  Agree, Woddies will certainly go no where but up in value over the years (supply and demand).  Also with the pic's posted I have to admit that every time I see the Magic Wand it puts a smile on my face.  I think every street Mini owner who's looking at a 'quick shift' kit should should have to drive one with the magic wand for a week... It's all relative.

I am not into naming cars, but it is my wife's. I think it's former name was Murphy...

For a comment like that, you deserve to get flamed!

Haha. Thanks, Al. I feel honored to be flamed by you.

Not that I don't respect this kind of car, or the value of it. It's just that I'm broke, and that kind of bank would make me think of other options.

Terry

Although the two Mini Woodies I shared in the beginning of this topic seem to have a rather high asking price, they are nevertheless current market examples. Whether they are statistically out of range for current purchases remains to be seen, as even finding a really nice Mini Woody for sale seems a rarity in and of itself, thus, top dollar. As far as very emotionally driven purchases, that also plays into even finding a nice Mini Woody for sale to start with, and the fact that most any purchase of any Classic Mini is going to be emotionally driven given the fact that the Buyer has a keen desire to obtain and own said vehicle. The 28K Woodie purchase in the LA area was actually less you say. How much less??? Knowing the actual number would only serve towards establishing market value in real time. Your Mini Woody is gorgeous by the way Terry! Congratulations on your purchase! I'd sure love to see some detailed photos of your beautiful Mini.       Mini Estate

Aloha Big AL!

I like to keep pulse on the current market values of the Mini Woodies in particular. I still believe they are becoming the most valuable, rare and highly sought after Mini models on the Planet Earth. Now if I can just work something out to purchase back my 1962 Austin Se7en Countryman Woody Wagon that 'Yowsaa' is just now thinking about selling!!! An actual 36K miles from brand new with full documentation!!! I'm the one who's getting teased!             Mini Estate

As a potential buyer, you have a strange way of negotiating before a deal.... Here you are telling the guy you want to purchase a car from that it's extremely valuable.....
Me? I would be talking about how nobody wants these tiny woodie wanna-be's anymore.
