Not NJ! That is a terrible loss. He was so upbeat and always had something new and interesting to say. He really listened and weighed in humorously and intelligently.

I was just thinking of him the other day. I will miss him and his always pleasant outlook.

Sad news indeed. NJ was a great guy and friend. I hate this growing older thing...way too many of my friends are departing and way too soon. So far this year we've lost Charlie and now NJ. The Mini community will miss these guys and all their contributions. Wish I had made it to Florida this year and had one last chance to hang out with him. Anyway, REST IN PEACE my friend!

Very sad to hear this. N.J. was such a great guy and a real inspiration and mentor of sorts to me when I was tossing around the idea to go VTEC. One guy I always looked forward to seeing at Mini Meets. You will be missed N.J.! Happy motoring wherever you are!

That's terrible news. I have to copy what Rocky said, that NJ was one of the faces that I always enjoyed seeing at a Mini event.
My sympathies to his family and friends!

So sorry to hear of NJ's passing. He was one of those guys I always looked forwarded to seeing at the Mini events that I have attended though out the years. He will be missed. My condolences to his family.

Today, sadly, we lost another great soul of the Classic Mini community. NJ Boone, ("NJ", the king of sarcasm here on the MM board), of Cumming, Georgia passed away this morning after battling pancreatic cancer since late last year. Many of you have spent time with NJ at any number of Mini events over the past years - MME, MMEMW, Spring Thing, CMU events and various other Mini/LBC events in the southeast and around the country. Known for creating one of the most maniacal VTEC Minis that ultimately morphed into one of Minitec's AWD beasts, NJ and his mascot hamster were fixtures until he sold the car a few years ago. He leaves behind his wife, Gina, his son Bryan and daughter-in-law, Natalie. He was a great enthusiast, a great friend to many, and he will be sorely, sorely missed.
The pictures attached are:
- By his own description and pose, "Chief Pontiac" and was taken at the cruise-in night during Spring Thing 2008.
- CR-Vini, the final iteration of his VTEC journey. (photo courtesy of Minitec)
- NJ w/ friends @ the 2005 Mitty, including the recently departed "cosmowog", Charlie Pollet (side-by-side, extreme left of pic)
- At the 2007 Spring Thing, poised for a run beside David Patton's lovely Woody Wagon
- NJ, in his ever-present safari ball cap, holding court beside his monster hamster at the 2007 Spring Thing Car Show
R.I.P., my good friend.
When we think of friends, and call their faces out of the shadows, and their voices out of the echoes that faint along the corridors of memory, and do it without knowing why save that we love to do it, we content ourselves that that friendship is a Reality, and not a Fancy--that it is builded upon a rock, and not upon the sands that dissolve away with the ebbing tides and carry their monuments with them. - Samuel Clemens -
