I spoke with Andy and he sent me a couple photos of a sportpack car.  The 13 x 6 wheels he has are the actual SPs, so yes, not much of a dish, the "spokes" begin at the outer rim.  He was looking to replace them with some deep dish 10s (new to Minis) so I explained the problems with that....

I went from 12x6" to 13x7" et-7. Those are the most common offset for "deep dish" wheels in a 13" size. I will tell you that unless your suspension is way up in the sky, you'll likely have to trim a bit of metal. Not a big deal if you already have flares that are large enough for 13's anyway.

Here's what I did.

Cutoff wheel

Slowly trimmed off more and more metal until I had the clearance to turn the wheels full lock to lock without rubbing, and I bounced the car a bit to make sure I wouldn't rub when I hit some bumps. (This image is with the old 12x6 wheels)

Then I used a pair of vice grips and some thick tape on the teeth to re-roll the lip onto the fender to add some strength.
After that, I removed the chipped paint from the cutting and rolling and sprayed it with some automotive paint to keep away the rust

Here's the 13x7 wheels that went on.

And here's the wheels fitted to the car with Group 5 race arches which are just about as wide as Sports Pack arches. Keep in mind that my car is lowered quite a bit as well.

I really hope this helps. Some people on here will tell you that you're making a mistake. I will tell you that I really loved the look of them and the ride wasn't as bad as everyone says it is. And it won't be much different from your current ride if you already have 13" wheels.

Please post a picture of what you have on there now. 13" wheels, and "deep dish" aren't very descriptive. If you have a high offset 13, and you want to run a low offset 13" then that may change some things. If you have 13"x5"  positive offset wheels, and you want to run 13"x7" et-7 wheels, you will likely have to trim the inner fender a bit to allow for turning clearance.

But I honestly can't tell what you have or what you are trying to go to, so I can't really help much.

Post a picture of what you have on your car (wheels and flares), the inside of the fender (the metal arch under your front flares), and a picture or link online to what wheels you are looking to get, and I can probably help you out a bit.

I have a 1971/1990's Mini that has 13 inch wheels. I wanted to change them out for the Mini deep disch wheels however I wanted to know if anyone had done this and if it caused any problems and if so what were the problems.

Also if done by anyone pictures would be great to see.

Andy

Hello All Mini People.

I have a new style MINI 1971/1990's I believe. I have 13 inch wheels with flaired fenders. I wanted to change the wheels to deeper disch wheels. If anyone has done this and has anything to share about this, Ie, pictures or it caused any problems I would love to hear the info before I did something that might cause me trouble.

I am in the East Bay in the San Francisco CA area.
