I have a copy of Roy Scott's restoration guide for the Moke. In it he shortened the linkage of a rod change and used a magic wand gear lever. This went through the existing magic wand hole of the Moke. Not sure if this would work in a Mini body? Has anyone experimented doing this?

Yes, the 3 and 4 synchro REMOTE gearboxes do use the same diff housing, and the transmission casting is also the same for the magic-wand style shift linkage. So in cases where you want to keep the original look and function (such as with an old English Moke or early Mark 1), but want a modern 4-synchro gearbox, we can fit the magic wand cover to the 22g1128 case, which makes for a very slick-shifting full syncro magic-wand box!

What do you mean with "adapting the Mini covers as well"? The diff. covers? 3-synchro and 4-synchro remote are the same?

Can I add a bump to this?

I recently bought an engine from a late 80s mini, wight eh rod change gearbox. I'm dropping this into my 63 Mini-minor, and want to use the magic wad. Can you bolt the magic wand tail to this? We want it to be a bit of a sleeper.

Also- what's the final drive in this engine? 12" wheels, so I assume it's not 3:44. I'll be getting rid of my old MG1100 trans with the remote shifter- so let me know! I also know of another one locally here in Sacramento

I'll say yes.... we can use the 22G1128 case to build 4-sync Magic wand boxes, as well as adapting the Mini covers as an option.  There are lots more diff covers surviving than cases!  Probably every other case we get has been gouged by bad u-joints, or has the idler thrust surface knackered...  The last one someone installed a 2.95, cut away all the third motion bearing retainer to fit the 20 tooth pinion, so the big bearing just spun!  I try to tell people don't go higher than 3.1, and we have the scrap aluminum to prove it!!
