It's good to hear that they could have their customer service and quality control issues all worked out by now.

When the lump does arrive go through the BOM and make sure all the parts that they checked off of the list are actually there.  That's when I ran into difficulties.  When the MTB2 kit arrived there were so many key parts missing along with parts that interfered with one another that we couldn't set the car on its wheels nor fire it up.  Of course this was 4 years ago so if they do have their act together now then you should have smooth sailing to the finish, well that is as long as they wired their harness together correctlyWink

You know what would be really cool is if you built a plexi wall on the rear shelf and carried your cold blooded friend around back there well at least to car shows!

I'm enjoying following your build on the 16v site, keep up the good work!

recieved this photo and shipping tracking data from MT today, they shipped the pedals and guages first cause i asked them to, so i could fit them. they quoted me 20 working days and shipped it in 23 working days, i wouldnt say that was a huge diffence in time, dealing with them everything to this point has been on the level and done pretty much when they said they were going to have it done. they kept the sending units for the guages and installed them for me already.  i have asked them plenty of questions that they have answered quickly, and pretty much the same as the experts told me on other websites when asked there as well.  they gave me a military discount which saved me hundreds on the conversion and advised me that i didnt need stuff that i was ordering and really saved me lots of money that i would have paid them not knowing any better just getting into this.  I really dont have anything bad to say about the company at all.  its not over yet but i dont see the issues people on here have had with them.

Well, hope everything is going as planned, but is it just me or has it taken you over a month to get the engine from Minitec?  I don't understand (well, I do understand) why they didn't send all the order at once if you ordered it all at once.  From folks I have known that ordered from MT this (sending the complete parts order) was a common problem.  This is one of the reasons I have thought your completion date was not do-able.  Not questioning your abilities, but rather, questioning their ability to supply all your parts by then.  Good luck, and hope your engine does arrive by the 4th.

I saw your post on 16v about the throttle cable. Simplest solution is a mini SPI throttle cable use one for a LH drive as it is a drop in affair. Both ends are the correct size and shape.

You're on fire, looking good and the dash looks sharp.

Keep this up and you will be setting a conversion speed record!

its getting there the minitec kit came with some good customer service, they have answered multiple questions and pointed me in the right direction time and time again my engine should ship next week, but they sent me the pedals and dash pod so that i could fit them. its going well so far.  and ya things needed a little tweek here or tweek there to work and fit, but shoot i got to say its been a blast so far, even when i was doing rust repair and cut the floor out right through the batery cable and brake line.. oops

Maybe the wifey feels the same way that is why it's in the garage. The size of the cage  (or lack of it) for a sanke that big just amazes me.

had no issue with heat never went above middle even at highway speeds for 12 hours.  but I guess last time I pulled it I should have paid a little more attention to it... the alum radiator works very well.

I just visited your build site and looks like you are moving right along.  Not that it matters now, but one of the issues you had with the Mini powertrain could have been caused by having the fan on backwards.  Lots of folks have their Mini fans on backwards and it causes the cars to run hot and ultimately, have issues.  Anyway, good luck with the build.

I'm in the middle of a B16A conversion, and yes it is turning out a little more expensive than I expected...and I expected to spend plenty.  Don't expect to finish it quickly or anywhere less than 10 grand.  The little things I get at Lowes are killing me.  The project is a little like childbirth.  Sounds like fun, seems horrible when you are in the middle of it, but seems easier in retrospect (based on watching my wife deliver our 4 klids)  All I have left is wiring and plumbing.  I'm hoping to enjoy it once finished.

for the throttle cable, I used a stock Honda civic cable, and cut the end off and got a set screw type ends from summitracing and I was able to adjust the height of the pedal to where I liked it but I have itb's, not using a Honda civic throttle body, but here's a picture of the cable mounted on the engine side

82mini,

If you have the time right now I recommend making the throttle pedal assembly just like MiniMike shows here because without it you will never be happy with the throttle travel (way to compact).

This is a must and makes all the difference in controlling the throttle input!
