Ah BIG AL,
41 year old Mini Van made it 11,300 kilometres across the continent and back last year. Yes we had water related ignition problems while Chicago had the tourist impact of high water levels in the river shutting down all but water taxiis.
The same Van made it around OZ in 70 days wearing out 4 tires, needing a new battery and blowing front wheel bearing set...none of which interrupted our schedule. 4 old Minis with 4 old couples drove almost 32,000 kilometres in 2013 on the trip to Tasmania with 1 water pump, 1 carb needle fettling and 1 minor electrical glitch - again not affecting our Route Book scheduule...yes my QH joints were shot after the OZ drives.
Prepare the Mini and drive it wherever.
Rick

Hi Brad, Sorry to hear about your ignition woes. Not familiar with the 123 but have had to overcome bad coil (NEW but fake Lucas Sport in 2008 on way home from MMW in Irvine) and the rains last summer heading to Mid-Ohio & MMEMW in Milwaukee. Last year, WD40 and subsequently bagging the ignition ended our woes.
You did make it 5,000+ miles, well done. You also left some inspired folks here with your seat cooling rig. One VMC member told me last night, he had acquired all the bits to operate one for his wife in his Mini...was wrestling with positive ground in his MG TC.

All was well until a rest area visit south of Omaha. Car woulnd not restart, no spark. Got a taxi to take me NAPA for a coil but that was not it. Minidave drove up from Kansas City and towed back to his garage. Overnight a distributor, it got in after lunch the next day. Could not get it setup so had to call it dead then call U-haul. Trailer it back home. So made it just over 5100 miles to that point. The dist that has the issue is a 123 that I had been driving in rain most of the day.
"How can anything bigger be mini?"

Jesse got home to California with a fuel tank that did NOT leak after some attention given to a leaking tank at Cedar Valley in Mission. Had been "repaired" twice on the run north...NOT.
Awaiting word on Brad Rosselle's safe return to Lilburn, Georgia!
Our only problem on the way home was the massive orange-brown cloud of forest fire smoke that invaded Victoria on Sunday morning. Looked like the alien shop from Independance Day as it crossed over the city...here up Island the smoke is very much lighter as we had a bit of a westerly wind for a while.

I posted on the facebook page also...but huge congrats to Mike and his Victoria/Vancouver team for a fantastic time at MMW! Where else could a man wear a Bobbie hat and order people around....and wear a kilt and have not one single Mini owner mention anything about my blindingly-white knees....and drive a Mini with a couple hundred of his closest friends?? MMW of course. Thanks to the many volunteers and to the very generous sponsors...specially our website host here. You made it all happen....thanks for the memories!

Congratulations on the attendance, only approx. 75 cars at MME 2015 way less than usual. No one stepped forward for MME 2016 either.

Whew, MMW2015 is done, and we had a great time.. 116 cars registered, and 200 people.. Hot sunny weather the entire time and lots of support from the host hotel, The Ramada Plaza Abbotsford Hotel & Conference Centre and an excellent banquet meal. We will be posting pictures, videos and the results on our MMW2015 website of the car show, autocross and funkhana....Thanks to everyone who attended and all the folks who volunteered.. Now.. who's doing MMW2016???

Few freckles of rain and the temp has dropped a lot. Sort of an acceptable tradeoff I guess. Going downstairs for the continental breakfast now...Had to explain to my wife that it was NOT sponsored by the tyre company..
