I did lol, its a mini world. i am changing out the motor but thought I'd drive it for a bit. The automatic is just junk... seen them all fail.. they never last.

Did you just buy that car in Airdrie?  I think it has synthetic oil in, put regular dino oil in as spec'd for automatics.  10W40 will be fine.

Did you buy the Jag as well? It was so nice, except for the paint, the window motors, etc.

Hey guys i got it running, it was the coil. yes you are all right it is a hack job. it is a SPI with the single point injection still on it. but some one put on a 25D distributor and sigle coil system. baffling!!?? So I put in a new single coil and have the spark being distributed by the distributor!! crazy heh. So it runs now but here's where I am confused. when I put it (automatic) into drive and drive it,..it surges when driving forward, but if you put it in reverse and nail it no problems??!! Weird. So I unplugged the trigger wire from the ECU to the neg side of the coil and threw in points and a condensor into the distrubutor to have a old style trigger setup. then I hooked the ditributor trigger output to the neg trigger on the coil. Now it runs perfect!!?? weird? So it looks like someone had problems with the ecu runing the ignition system and put in a distributor.

Now I don't know whether I should just time the distributor and use it that way or figure out why the ECU surges the igition system in forward. My best guess is the ECU is damaged.

Any thoughts guys.. I would really appreciate it..

SPI- should be injected too - controled by that ecu.. you say points- but SPI = no points.  Has this been converted to NO ecu- Distrubutor + carburator changed.

If still injection- do you have a remote fob? or any red lights on in the dash? = Immobilizer - killing fuel injection pulse.

I adjusted the points and did the static timing as for some reason this car had a distributor installed on it. So it cranks over and stumbles liek it wants to start but wont idle. has fresh fuel new battery. 12v to teh coil. all wires are hooked up right. spark at every HT lead end. valve clearances are right. has compression. I'm baffled??.. Help!

All SPI's have a distributor as such but it is usually electronic. Check the vacuum line connections from the ecu (if still installed) to the fire trap then to the rear of the intake manifold and on to the air cleaner, it is the elbow ends that break the lines themselves are usually good. Be sure to make sure the fire trap is clean with no gas in it.
