To the top as a recent thread reminded me of this.
I bought a stainless set off ebay from a fellow in the UK.....I'll not buy chrome again unless I have a written warranty or something to include post also.
Alex... reagrding everday driving....I agree, they will get crappy over time...but mine had about 300km on them and the only moisture they saw was the wash, never rain or salt

The Chinese seem to put a bare minimum of chrome on, with no copper plating underneath. And the steel is rubbish too.,

I'd go find a machine shop to turn a set up from S/S hex bar, like I did last year.

I don't recall the taper angle I had them made so long ago.

Here is a picture of them.  I have one set of 16 left.

ALL wheel nuts in the CN range, large and small seat, rounded or 60º seat rust like crazy and lose their chrome.
It's not right, but it is a fact of life when you drive your car daily in all weathers that nuts are almost a service item if you want them to be shiny.

The only nuts I have which haven't had this happen are the genuine Minilite logo nuts that the former MD had made and only sold to preferred customers.

The pictured one is actually from my Midget.  Same thread etc. as the MINI .
I've seen several stainless sets on ebay ( Midget ).

Tony...if yours are stock MINI taper...they may be the same as Midget.  60 degree I think it is.

edit.... same one listed here for Midget and classic MINI....so yes I'd be interested

What specific lug nut is that?  Did you buy it here?   I've used these CN5s for years with no problems...

They are among the least expensive to boot.....

Are these standard lug nuts?  If yes I made a bunch of stainless ones a while back.

If you want I can go look to see if I have a spare set.

At the moment there are no stainless nuts available (afaik) for std applications.

Only Mambas, Minilites, Minilifes and possibly Mini Specials have off-the-shelf nuts.
This may soon be remedied however.

Had the same stinkin thing happen to me with the lug nuts on my truck. I actually took them back to the tire shop I bought them from and asked to just pay the difference for the stainless version. They agreed that the chrome shouldn't have chipped and agreed to just let me pay the difference.
