I FOUND ONE! That Samba link had one in the Phoenix area. It's in really good shape...wrong color, but great shape. I will get it sanded down, install some better looking lights and it figure out how in the world I am going to get it attached to Carlton. Fun project for sure!

I know most of you are like me, and can waste hours scouring the web for random cool stuff. Well, while you're hunting away keep your eye out for me. I am trying to hunt down an Allstate Single Wheel Trailer, or similar vintage single wheel trailer. I found one in Reno, but it looks pretty darn rough. I know there are a few more that are sitting in someone's backyard collecting dust. Let me know if you find anything. Happy hunting!
Here is a page with a couple cool photos.
There was one for sale here in Spokane and it was pretty cheap like $75. I havent seen it on the craigslist lately, but if I do find it I will let you know.

Okay, so in order to keep it upright you have two hitches then? Sounds like you would weld brackets on to the subframe.
And then I assume the wheel would have to caster. I bet you could just make one of these to you spec, even use one of those Mini fiberglass trailer bodies like Hunter had for Roo.
You got it! The hitches really just have to allow flex up and down like hinges. The trailer is held upright by the car body and tilts as the car rolls. Of course the trailer, having it centre of gravity well above its single wheel, like a wheelbarrow, will impart roll into the car body on corners. So the loaded weight of the trailer will really mess up the handling of a small, light car.
Single-wheel trailers are cute and really easy to back up, but were never really popular for good reason.

Interesting site in the link. I did not know Coleman made a single wheel also called the pack horse. I have a Coleman caboose two wheel trailer with the plastic clamshell box total weight is around 180 lbs and it tows perfect behind a Mini but not getting much use lately.
If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

There's a guy over my way that has one of those trailers behind his Fridolin all the time. I don't think he wants to sell it, but I'll keep my eyes open for any indications.
