I tried a A/C schrader fitting on my vacuum pump but could only muster about 20-25 um, inches of mercury?  Whatever the unit of measure is, not 27-30 like is recommended.  Then the second problem:  when I unscrewed the fitting I lost some of the vacuum pressure.

So my story is really "how not to do it".

If you solve the problem w/ over the counter bits, post up your victory!  I would love to copy a proven affordable solution.

I mostly assembled my hydrolastic '71 'S' last fall, but never pumped the suspension up as I was collecting fittings for a grease gun hydro pump as detailed on the AustinAmerican site. Many years ago I picked up a vacuum pump from Harbor Freight as suggested on the same site. My question to anybody who may use that vacuum pump is what have they cobbled together hose/fittingwise between the apparently a/c fitting on the pump and the schrader valve on the rear of the car? Another current thread about a Churchill pump speaks of a bike pump end connector and that looks like something that I could source. The a/c like fitting has me stumped? Randy
