This thread brings to mind my ill fated "BIG AL TRAVELLING KEY CHAIN"-

I had accumulated about 50 mini keys, ignition, door, petrol cap etc and had no use for them so l started the share a key plan-Much like the BIG AL TRAVELLING LIBRAY", that lasted 2-3 years- The idea was to send the keys on to any mini enthusiast who needed a key, he would take what he could use, add any surplus keys he had and move it along to the next mini type- Well it started out O K, got to Knoxville TN and for some reason just died there-

Mini Meat East 2012 in Magog, Que. There I am consuming frosty adult beverages in the parking lot when someone asks, "Who has a Mini key?"

Well, I'm sitting there with my Moke's key (along with a rubber chicken on the key chain) so, I volunteer....
Turns out it just slipped right in and started another Moke that had been going through some electrical issues...
I almost think that any MK1/MK2 could be started with a nail clipper. [rolleyes]

Aloha,

Try a blank key for a Harley Davidson. I can't remember which it fit, an early Mini ignition or the lock on a Mini gas cap? Anyway, this was discovered by a Locksmith from my old hometown on the Mainland many years ago. He is no longer with us, otherwise I would post some contact info. Check it out anyway. I know I didn't just make this up. I was in a real pinch at the time. The guy was a genius. I remember he had an entire box of the blanks. I remember telling him early Mini key blanks were hard to get at the time, (so it probably was a key for the ignition) All of my Minis were MKI's though. The keys all looked like they were for a post office box! Many times the keys even interchanged, (started other MKI Minis!)                    Mini Estate

The unknown here is "Innocenti Export"...from what my experiences are, they had different ignition assemblies than their English cousins.  If you can't find a REAL locksmith, I don't know what you can do to solve the problem.  Perhaps search Ebay Italy and try matching ANY numbers or letters on your original.  Good Luck!  BTW, if you could post photos of both sides of your key perhaps some of us could try and match it to something.  Anyway, it's worth a try.

Thanks

I use an old time locksmith and he found a Mazda blank that fitted an 80's Mini.
