Cheleker - thats makes sense. My project is a 1963 997 Cooper. This head came with the car - can't see anything wrong with it except for engine temp thermostat and studs well locked into place

To add to Spitz's comments: The combustion chamber is smaller than the 206 and 295. For Minis, it was used on the 997s.

I think GR in Oz likes to work with the small bore heads with a bit more meat.  Your 202 might make a good modified head for a small bore power unit with big gains.

I can't answer the first question. I have a block in solution for 10 days now. When I have someone to help me lift it out we will find out. By having something, the 202, 206 and 295 castings are all small bore ones that can be worked with. The other small bore heads require a lot more grinding to open them up. Of course you need to find someone wanting to do a small bore build. I build a few engines and just completed the first 850 I have done since the 60s. I'm also waiting for this 998 block to come out of the soup and will be building the first two 998s I have done in some time. Steve (CTR)

Was used on 1098 engines....smaller intake than the 295 and 206

It is a small bore head similar to the 12G295. They are used for upgrades and work well on small bore engines along with carb and exhaust work.

Degrease and remove rust in a molasses water bath (3 parts water to 1 part molasses).  You might have something!
