So,  I called apple and they said this was common... nonetheless I took apart a the master on our 64' sprite, it had tiny holes drilled at the bottom of the bigger holes. Same idea I guess from apple, but the epoxy is crap. I'm leaning towards perhaps rather than resleeving a 7/8" master, they bored out a 3/4", lost the tiny holes in the boring process, filled it with epoxy and drilled it. So now I'm kind of leaning towards just replacing it with a TRW master cylinder. The rebuild kit we got from Moss doesn't seem to work out.

I can't find the link, but when I was thinking about building a side curtain Sprite I found a guy who was doing a special master of that type just for cars converted to disc. He resleeved and made his own pistons. I have had Sprite masters resleeved  and rebuilt but not seen anyting like what you have there. I know where my first call would be. Steve (CTR)

Agreed.  I can only speculate while Apple will know what was done and why.  

The pictures look nothing like I expected.

Thanks for the reply Doug, the thing is there are no sleeves, I'm going to try and post a pic tell me what you think. Should I open them back up? The epoxy seems to peel off fairly easy.

The following is just a guess on my part.  When a cylinder like this is sleeved the liner is bonded in.  I suspect the holes were not intentionally filled but that the holes became filled during the sleeving process.  The drilled holes would be required to re-open the old, glue filled holes. They are much less likely to damage the thin walled sleeve if they make those new holes as small as possible to meet the requirements.

So, we sent the master cylinder to Apple Hydraulics to be rebuilt, we had some issues with fluid return from one of the wheels. So we'be been pulling apart and fixing anything we thought could be a problem, which led us to the master cylinder. We pulled it apart and Apple had filled the two return holes one for each side, with what looks like epoxy and drilled 2 tiny holes through it. So my question is why did they fill in the factory holes and re-drill much smaller ones?
