GTs and MGB's in general have a lever shock setup, similar to the Midget and MGA

I have had a  few GT's over the years and really like them. My daughter spent the first 4 years of her life in a carseat in the back of a BGT. A sebring replica, no less.

I have a GT that I started building before my divorce a few years ago. All the steel is done, I just need to get up the gumption to paint and assemble. Full webasto sunroof, wire wheels...

The One I'm looking at is 73 also.
As I understand it, the GT got heavier springs and sway bar (?)

Do these have the same type of shocks as a Midget...or tubular?

Well at the moment I have three MGB GT's a 73 69 74 and I love 'em here in CA we don't have to worry about rust! but The sills and lowerer rear fenders seem to be the obvious places. when I was an apprentice doing PDI's on the V8 they were the dogs bollocks but these days would seem a bit tame! The GT is a great all round car they go well and handle pretty good. The 73 I have had for 15 years now and has over 300,000 miles on it, still on the same unrebuilt motor except for new bearings put in it and an aluminium head because the old one cracked. It's a horrible looking thing now all the paint peeling off but it works every time and has only left me stranded once in 15 years so yes I think it's a pretty good car. One day the old girl will get a rebuild but not yet.................................

Mini's are like buses they come along in a bunch

My Dad's got a 68 MGB GT.... No rust and a rebuilt engine... I've driven it a bunch this summer, and honestly I like it, almost, better than the roadster!  Nice and solid driving having a full shell.  I find however that I could be about 2 inches farther back in the seat.  Just feels a bit tight, but its easy to get used to.  Roadster seats seem to sit just that extra bit back which is nice.

Good luck

Mat check this episode of the "is born series" by Mark Evans. He gets through a lot of detail about the car, weak spots, info etc.

have had several, owned 3 factory v8's, aftermarket v8 and also v6, dog legs, sills, battery boxes and front fenders bottoms are the most common rust areas. great cars, way better than a roadster especially for long drives.

EESH, I'd keep a pup over an MGBGT anyday. I love them but at the end of the day it's just an MGB. Dig up an MGBGTV8 and we'll be talkin.

Who's had one?  Curious if anything to look for other than usual rust spots etc.

May have to sell my PUP to purchase though :-/
