better to just get a whole Vitara DOHC motor, someone has done one in OZ, there are pictures out on the interweb. I try and concentrate on "locally" available drivetrains but I'm dying to get a look at the 3 cyl turbo diesel's out there, something like 750cc and made by Nissan (UK marketplace) Smaller the better for me, it's not like we have a lot of room under the hood.

Superfly,

Heard of anyone swapping a Grand Vitara DOHC head onto that 1 liter bottom end?  Just 'cause it would confund anyone looking at it...

In the UK we're starting to hear of the earlier 125 bhp 1.0 Ecoboost engines expiring at 30 k miles.  The owner had the pleasure of the replacement engine doing exactly the same thing after another 30k !

For engine 2, the water hose from the turbo to the water reservoir had split, dumping all the coolant.

The very latest cars appear to have a mod'd pipe in this area, tho Fords are not openly admtting there's a problem.

Car engines make CO2 and trees absorb CO2. By running your engine you're feeding a tree and helping the environment.

I have an older 1.0 ltr 3 cylinder intercooled turbo FI motor from a Chevy Sprint in mine and for sale or trade if anyone is interested. 100ftlbs & 70hp at stock boost (exactly half of what that new fangled eco motor puts out...), of course it will take more.... Already swapped into a Mini & it runs, 5 speed, 4 wheel disk brake conversion. Rough but if it is what someone wants, I did & don't anymore. I'd like to checkout the eco 1.0 Liter, I bet I can make it fit.... but it does appear to be VERY tall

Is that the engine they said could be taken on board a commercial airliner as carry on luggage, it is so small and so light weight?

I have one in my Focus Estate, and an impressive performer it is.

I haven't measured up, but I suspect its too tall and too wide to fit in a round nose without MAJOR surgery.

The elctronics might also be a challenge !

I've thought it was a cool idea.  But have no idea if it'd work.  I've read that Ford did some unique things with the motor mounts on Fiestas to keep those 3 cylinders from shaking themselves apart.  Therefore, they're kinda hard to swap into a different chassis.

But that kinda talk is for quitters.  Fact is it be an awesome swap.
