try some gum out upper cylinder and carb cleaner additive, they actually work...i use it on my scooter, before, the engine block and spark plug are full of carbon deposits, after two weeks of using gum out, carbon and varnish deposits are gone, i saw the inside of the motor because i have a scope with camera , i can see the big difference.,,,no more sticky valves

did you take off the spark plug lead and no response from the engine? how did you define "4th" cylinder missing?

Do a cold engine compression test. Is the offiending cylinder low pressure? Then, once the engine warms up and the cylinder "kicks in" do another test. A warm test won't be all that accurate, but if the low cyinder, once warmed, is comparable to the others then suspect a sticking valve.

I had a Honda Civic with that problem. 4th cylinder would kick in after the temp got up a but....it was a sticking valve

You shouldn't need the choke on that long. After you get it started push the choke in as soon as possible but stay on fast idle. It might be time for an ingnition tune-up .. the works.

Turning to the forum for some fresh ideas . . .
When I first start my car in the morning, the engine will run on 3 cylinders until the engine gets to operating temperature. I let the car sit for with the choke on for about 5 minutes. Once the water temp reaches 180 deg F (autometer gauge with a smiths temp sender, so not sure if temp is accurate), the missing cylinder kicks in. Any ideas as to what could be the cause?
