I'd agree with Alex. Visually the distributor looks fairly new - a bit grungy here and there, but the vac unit is still shiny. The cap, rotor, points and condenser look fresh and the coil looks pretty new too.

Spend $25 or so on a basic dwell/tach unit and another $25 on a basic timing light - you're going to need them anyway if you do go Petronix.

These tools will tell you how well your distributor is working and will indicate anything that might need attention. You may find that your ignition system is working very well and your tuning efforts should be directed elsewhere (like valve adjustment, carb cleaning and tuning, decarbonizing, fresh (or proper) air filter.........)

Blue sliding points go in a 59D dizzy - they are the major change (upgrade) from the 45D.
Standard fit to an A+ 998 unless you were unlucky enough to cop for a Ducellier.

Set up with a dwell meter they work just fine and generally are very reliable.
The only shortcoming is the quality of modern condensors, so splashing out on a decent one would be the only upgrade advice.

Which is the best setup consider easy to setup, performance, and durability/longevity? between Petronix/Flame Thrower, 1-2-3 Distributor, and Megajolt?

I've driven a car with the JET ignition combo you posted.  It worked really well.  If your ignition bits are worn out it's a solid upgrade. My only objection is the goofy modern look of the coil.  The classic round Lucas shape *looks* much better imho.

I used to have a Pertronix application list for Lucas distributors. You need to figure out what distributer you have from the serial number on the side and then use Chichm's distributer data base to find the model number. There are Ignitor I and Ignitor II. The Ignitor I's are prone to burning out if not handled properly so get an Ignitor II. They make use of the advance curve your distributer has  built into it. They are easy to install but its not that easy to set the timing if you have no experience. They go for around $100. Mini Mania has them and they are available in other places as well but not evrybody will have Lucas models.

Another option is a 123 distributor for around $400. These have a selectable advance curves, in case you decide to modify your motor in the future and are quite easy to install and set up. The 123 uses Bosch parts that are readily available at any auto parts store.

With electronic ignition your motor will start easier, idle better and have more power .... maybe up to 5% more.l

I've never heard of Jet Motors and $560 + shipping could be better spent elsewhere . Hell, I've seen crank fire systems for that kinda coin.

Just my option (O2)

Can't read the image. Post a link.

It appears to be an electronic ignition system. Some are worth the money.

A set of points in a traditional Mini distributor will give very good results. Spend your money on getting the car put back togther and running. Putting an electronic ignition on a car that isn't otherwise running well will just ADD problems and complexity sorting it out.

Putting in a new set of points, condenser and rotor isn't difficult. Once you understand it you'll see.
