You certainly should be embarrassed if your Mini won't start.

Given a choice between a standard Mini A-series engine and a modern Honda engine that doesn't want to start, I would take "old tech" any day of the week. Most of the time, it can be fixed at the side of the road.... with primitive tools.

lol, yes cupcake, fixing my current set is my priority, after all, all i need is a stock daily driver mini and a weekend starbucks get around. Every sunday there is a gathering of vintage cars and mustangs etc at starbucks here, im sure this mini is a jawdropper when i bring it there.

i should be the last one to go home so if my mini decided not to start i wont be embarrassed, LOL!!

i just saw this Vtec, it cost $564.. im like reallly??

Robster. You've gone from trying to figure out if and what ertronix IGNITOR fits your engine to asking about VTEC conversions. That's a huuuuge step. May I respectfully suggest you focus on what's reasonable.

From another thread discussing the simple task of checking the dwell angle and timing:

 I may be wrong, but if the HBoL is too complicated, any attempt to convert a car to a VTEC will result in a scrap car or an abandoned project...

No, you almost certainly can't.
Do a search on VTEC conversions and you will find that they always spiral out of control cost-wise, usually aren't finished, and when they are, are often sold very quickly after completion as they are generally nasty to drive compared to an unmolested Mini.

Type in JDM in Google and you will see many engine sites such as these:

//www.jdmtigerjapanese.com/engine-transmission.html/

//www.jdmenginescorp.com/engines/honda/

When Japanese cars reach 30k or 40k miles they get rid of them because of sky high registration fees so the engines etc. get pulled and shipped to the US.

Beware of the R motors as they can often be over-revved by the PO's causing unseen damage.

Honda single cam D-series and dual cam B-series engines fit in a standard nose. With a flip front one can install the K-series engines but good luck getting the power to the pavement through front wheel drive on those!
