Carl Austin has a lot of experience with getting the A-series to go fast, might want to check out some of his: //www.force-racing.co.uk/

I'm sure YouTube has some videos of his twinny beating something 'worthy' on the dragstrip.

And, let's not forget about Stuart Meads' Zetec engined sub 10 second mini...

If all you are worried about is getting your butt kicked on the way to car meet, then youa re wasting yor time with a Mini.... or wasting a Mini with your time. Simple fact: if you're in a MIni and you are trying to (illegally) street race, you deserve to get your butt kicked.

Friend of mine auto-crosses with the local Ford club, he's got a nice SVO but loves running the Mini against the "mightier Mustangs", when driving the mini ( not the SVO ) he on a regular basis spanks the Fords , all comers .

You want drag racing minis, go to Youtube , you'll find plenty.

Want to read about Giant killers, look no further than this forum, or any other mini forum.

What everyone here is trying to make you understand is that building a classic mini to drag race and beat a corvette makes just about as much sense as buying a hummer with the i tent of making it beat a porsche on the . Sure... With a lot of work you could do it, but why? And it will still never be as capable as if you had just bought a car built for that purpose in the first place.

I should know. I spent a lot of money getting a pickup to go sub 12's. But at the end of the day if I had put the same amount ofmoney into a vette i would be in the 9's.

So why not get out of your comfort zone and try something other than street racing. Which is quite crude tobegin with. Sanctioned racing is a true test of machime and skill of driver. There are rules and means of measure that you don't get from lining up next to some kid's honda on the highway and showing him how much "cooler" your skinny tire car is.

If you want people interested in drag racing their minis, you might want to have a look at the turbominis.co.uk forum.

In the title i asked about certain scenarios since people say they catch bmws, mustangs, vettes etc off guard in their travels...i dont plan on bundling turns..

I do have a 04 bmw 330i ZHP,but i dont even take turns in that either, mustang drives around on slicks or drag radials and 10" rear rims and 3.5 front width..dont plan to monte carlo anything...i drive on the street...i know minis are good in those sreas but there are people who, occasionally race orher cars etc....thats my interest and was curious how you guys do...

As Norm Kerr says, there's a difference between "fast" and "quick". I don't think a Mustang has ever won the Monte Carlo Rally. Minis have won it 3 times (4 times if you include the disqalification for having the wrong headlamp bulb installed).

I think that you are asking questions that few others here are all that interested in, so you probably won't get much of a response.

There are a few who have turbocharged their minis who post here, and some Honda engined ones, with big horsepower gains, but most folks who love these cars are more interested in how fun they are to drive, and so most enjoy the power they have, rather than chasing after a brass ring of physical extremes.

There are several who race these cars, but they are far more interested in lap times than 1/4mile ETs, in general. Minis were notorious for beating Mustangs on street courses (but only so long as there were enough turns and not enough straights to let the V8s disappear into the distance, at least, until the turns come around again and the mini is able to go so much faster through them).

Minis excel at handling, and gathering smiles. It is difficult to be an introvert in one, especially when folks want to ask about them at the store, gas station, at work, in the driveway, at traffic lights...

I plan to work on the car suspension wise and try to sort it out and get it to go as fast as it can on the d16 stock longblock, then add a turbo on low boost....i want to hear from guys who can USE first gear or have decent final drives etc and can actually launch the car decently and compete with normal 14/13/12 second cars...

Im not claiming it to be fast, but everyone seems to be so im curious of what FAST is...

I race with my Mustangs ...but i wanted to build a little toy out of my mini but i am curious what you guys compete against and how you do...everything ive seen soo far B18 swaps etc a lot are in the 14s or slower...kindve slow, dont even show a good MPH...few guys on 16vminiclub are doing well though and into the 12s with 1.9 60' which isnt too bad...they have vids of them racing other cars on streets etc..Curious to hear more though

Dont clutter up a Thread i didnt claim to have a killer, but i want to hear about you guys killers without the usual crowd on here putting everyones ideas down! Lol

Why don't you start by listing your details?  After all you think Honda powered Mini's are slow so you must have your own data to prove it.
