I'm with you on this one Chuck.  I'd sell everything I own before I'd sell the Moke!

To answer the question about whether one can be driven on the street, does anybody have a picture of QuickSilver at speed in his Moke? (Probably doing 70mph in the wet, if I recall correctly.)

As the Jeep slogan goes "its a Jeep (Moke) thing you wouldn't understand". No seriously some owners drive them everywhere but they are best suited off highways and are comfortable at 55 to 60 mph. We do a yearly camping trip in Mokes/Mini's every October down here in Florida Moke'n around Florida.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Start with a Mini saloon. Take away all the stuff you don't really need and you'd end up with a Moke.

I'm down to 11 Minis now. (I don't own anything else.) If I had to sell 10, I'd keep the Moke.

5.0 based mustangs are my true love..nothing blows the steam off like the sound and feeling of a turbo car...take the mickey thompson tire off the back and you got yourself a true handfull...ive had it skating down open highways and ending up in other lanes before i sorted the suspension lol CLOSED roads of course lol

I am 26 years old...dont know much about minis Except i always thought they were kindve neat and, wanted one...

I do not like the attention it gets,im not that kind of person..i have a pretty serious turbo mustang that has, full tailpipes and sounds like a stock car..i dont like to stand out or cause stares,im not after attention.I didnt even leave it sit outside because of that, nor do i like driving and stopping places in my,mini.

I have NEVER been in another,i have only crossed paths with 3 in my life and i own one of them.

Here's a page I attach to the windscreen at shows to answer the questions I'm tired of hearing:

                                      It’s a Moke

                         Some common questions answered

1.)   Why yes, it is kind of small… You know, I never noticed until you pointed it out.

2.)   No, I don’t think it would be “really cool” to shoe horn a small block V8 in there. It squishes plenty of bugs with the 34 horsepower it was born with.

3.)   Yes, it is a “real” car. It’s been issued plates and insurance. I don’t think I could drive an imaginary car so, I suppose it’s “real”.

4.)   No, it’s not an electric car. Did you happen to notice the gas cap and exhaust pipe?
(I’ve actually been asked this as I was filling up the fuel tank...)

5.)   Yes, it’s perfectly legal to drive on the right side of the car. Why do you drive on the “wrong” side?

6.)   No, it won’t float… Does your car float?

7.)   Yes, it does get a lot of SMILES per gallon. But, I have no idea of how many miles per gallon it gets and don’t really care.

8.)   No, I don’t know how many clowns will fit in there. Why don’t you go get the rest of your family and we can find out.

The Moke is factory built and shares the original Mini drive train. Over five million Minis and variants were manufactured in a forty year span. Of these, less than 1% were Mokes.

This particular example spent her youth in Barbados which gives her the nickname “Barb”.

                                      Thanks for your interest.

Look to Australia where Mokes have been the ride of choice in so many adventures...imagine floating your Moke across a northern Queensland River on logs - while you wade across directing the load.  Imagine Saltwater (Estuarine) Crocodiles in that river...b.lls, Aussies have b.lls.
