That is an absolutely nuts barn find in case you did not click the link.

I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to take a Moke or two back to Catalina, put on a striped top and chase people up and down the beach with a big scary balloon.

Just a word of advice if anyone is considering one of these Mokes.  Keep in mind they have not been on the road for over 20 years, so don't get the idea that you can fly out and drive one back.  Another thing, the ones that remained Spruce Green seem to be the better ones of the fleet, as I think they were used mostly by the staff of the rental companies and not rented out to the general public.  Not sure of that, but that is what I have heard.  Anyway, they are definately worth saving, even if it takes 2 to make 1 good one.

I want one...any one going for a look?

We could have brought one back this summer if the timing was earlier.

The original slew of the Catalina Mokes were bought by Larry Hollaway of NJ, he brought Tom Schram in on the deal and Tom took some but Larry took most of them to NJ, l had one that l bought in Windsor Ontario and then sold it to George M (aka GTAmini) in LA-

Zippy, have you grabbed a plane and used your air miles to get out to Minneapolis yet ?

Former rental vehicles from Catalina Island.  All were painted in pastel colours, but not high quality paint work.  Most of them were used and abused well beyond their "best by date".  There are a few of them that were nearly perfect, but the majority of them had poor repairs done when they rusted or were wrecked.  I have owned a couple of them and those 2 had sheet metal patches rivetted ontop of other sheet metal patches.  If you look at the photos of Tom's Mokes you can see a couple of them that are wonky.  It does look like he got a few of the good ones as well so they are definately worth taking a look at and buying.

Wow, what a cool historical connection.  Guys on this very forum have been speculating over these Catalina Island Mokes.  And here they are.   Plus a pile of other wonderful artifacts.  I have too much on my plate, otherwise I would be calling the guy and booking a flight.

I once owned one of the Catalina Mokes myself. Bought it from a Gent in the LA area. Don Racine purchased that little gem of a Mini many moons ago. I guess there are tons of Mini parts as well as some of Saloons. Check it out.
