Thanks cupcake!
I think I'll try a thread chaser file - it's already shot, so I can only improve the situation!

2) No!

Installing the wiper mechanism on my build, and have noticed that the threads on both of the the spindles are crossthreaded (ie:, the retaining nut on the outside of the car cannot be threaded on).
Few questions:
1) Does anyone have a good pair of MkI/II wheelboxes they'd be willing to offer up?
2) Can I use the MkIII and up (32 teeth) wheelboxes as a straight replacement? (They're cheaper new than the MkI/II boxes)
3) Would a tool to straighten the threads work on this instance? Like something from NES? //www.nes.co.il/
Thanks!
