Jonesing huh Steve ?

I'll quit when you get the "shakes".

Magnus Walker's taste (I feel) is rather pure and simple like mine. (I bought my car that way, I wouldn't have done the sloop/wide-body treatment.)

I love his cars.

Hoping you haven't "wasted" too much time.

SXS why oh why did you post that link? Now I'm much worse thank you very much. There is a local shop that does work for Leno. They buy 5 cars when they start a project so they have their own supply of bits as needed. Their cores warehouse is twice the size of the shop. Steve (CTR)

Vespas are coming back again and you can get hold of one cheap. The Stella (not Vespa) is a nice rendition of it, but I would prefer the vintage ones. Speaking of which, here is some 'vintage comic relief'

I like these retro bikes a lot. I have a 71 Honda CB 175... and my daughter likes it even more than me

More on Magnus Walker - urbanoutlaw.tv and pic of my son and him this summer at the Monterey Historics. Rylan is holding his Ferrari hat behind him so as to not insult him and we ran around looking for a Porsche to have in the background. I have some longnose 67 SWB front fenders & doors, 2x 16"x7" Fuchs and misc 1967 912 & 911 parts for sale. Not cheap - will never get a chance to build an Outlaw as prices seem to be ever climbing and the value of a stock p-car is a bit higher. I do have a barn-find 67 912 (missing engine) stashed for a future project. I know someone that has a pile of 914 stuff (4-lug) including 2 shells and 2 6cyl Porsche motors - I believe I have the 5 lug hubs needed for a 914-6 conversion. I really just want a fiberglass Speedster replica (since High School)

Had a 78 Jet 200 Lambretta that I got with 4 miles on it, a lil faster than a Vespa (76mph) and a 71 Z50 now (and a couple of ATC70's, a TRX70 and a CT90....) - don't like the crotch rockets, too fast for me.

That squirrel one is Too fn Funny! Good one Zip.

And folks think I'm nuts for driving my Moke at those speeds....

Okay, I need a bit of a downhill and favorible winds but just the same...

Maybe it was his wife's carpet.

One man's junk is another mans tip.

(Neither person knew what they had I believe)

Would have loved to have snagged the Dream also.

"...He worked for Stanley Steamer , as a tip he was given a motorcycle and the scoot for doing a good job on the customers carpet..."

For that kind of tip, must've been some blood*........ A lot of blood.

Steve, I feel your pain.

My wife started with America West, which merged with US Airways. Now it's merging with American Airlines. She did about a 3 year stint out in Phoenix where her car was hit (totaled) not once but twice by illegal aliens who not only didn't have insurance they also had no license, registration and in both wrecks they were drunk.

1st time car was drivable but trunk wouldn't close, so I flew out to Phoenix, went to harbor freight and bought a porta-power and jacked the rear valance back in place. Flew back to Cow town and sold the porta-power to the shop (was going to joke and say it was the heaviest carry-on ever, but alas I checked it). Had to flip the car into a salvage title. (This about the only time you'll hear me say I bought a tool from HF)

2nd time was bad. Hit so hard neither passenger door would open, roof buckled  (wife's car) and was hit by the car they first hit. It was a conversion van, hit so hard the built in TV came out of it's mount and flew thru the back glass. Lucky they were drunk because they weren't wearing seat belts and had windshield tacos on glass tortillas for lunch, both had life threatening injuries. And the Acura they were driving was stolen. We were the only ones that had insurance also. I still have the pictures of the accident and one interior shot showing the 23 empty beer cans on the floor.

Funny, I'd been looking for a replacement for her damaged car and had bought her another car. She was heading to the airport to fly home when she was hit. She called and although sore was panicking  about what she was going to drive.

I told her "I think I've got that covered" and picked her up in her replacement car (which I had just picked up the day before). Although not how I wanted to replace her car. I drove out with her to Phoenix and then flew home. Timing sometimes is everything.

Quick story on the scoot (Vespa). It was found leaning against a fence collecting leafs near a local gun shop (Vance's)  . No one home. I drove by frequently trying to talk to the owner, never home. As I passed one day an opposing car was signaling to turn, yup, the owner. I stopped and inquired about the scoot.

He worked for Stanley Steamer , as a tip he was given a motorcycle and the scoot for doing a good job on the customers carpet.

Motorcycle was a 305 Dream ! The scoot my Rally 200. He had sold the Dream for....gulp.....$150 ! Told me he was going to a Nascar race and he could use some beer money, said he'd sell the Vespa for salvage . (I'm thinking salvage isn't anything ?)

"How much are you looking for ?" I asked.

"Give me $20" he tells me.

Thud.

After I came to I got my wallet out and gave him $30. You would have thought he'd won the lottery ! As I began to load the Rally, he comes out of the house with a box of parts. Spare tire, new cables, carb kit, more plus original owners manual and...........da da da DAA ! a signed, notarized title.

I felt like I had hit the lottery. Wishing I still only had $30 in it.

Anyone have a barn/fence find they'd like to share ?

I was just about born on a bike. By age 11 I had a 125 Jawa followed by a 250 then I had the triple crown, a Honda 250 Scrambler, 305 Dream and a 305 Super Hawk. Followed them with a Honda 750K  which I traded in on my 1000 Kaw. When Eddie Lawson won the super bike title Kaw buiilt 150 replicas and sent one to each dealer who reached a sales figure for the year. My local dealer was getting one but did not want it. I was able to place a deposit and get mine for $150. over dealer cost ( sure ) and the rest is history. I love to ride but it's just no longer safe. I have lost to many friends to people just not paying attention. I'm thinking pull her out upgrade everything to more like his race bike and do track days.

To make things better, the wife was in a wreck this week. Rear ended in front of 7/11. Seems the other driver did not have a license  or insurance. She is very sore but I don't think hurt bad. Very upset that I did not take the rental car rider and since it was my car ( not mini ) I have a $1000. deductable. I'm not going to start up about people who have no business here. Steve (CTR)

That's funny. For all the years I've known steve, I never once knew he was a bike guy. Personally - I'm not. Fell off too many as a kid and the one time I got on one as an adult the "friend" riding thought it'd be a hoot to take me upto 140+mph... Never again as they say...

I can however appreciate the engineering marvel that is motorbikes. But ride one, I will not :-)

It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

I hear you Steve!  Yes the R1 has only been out twice since the new arrival, and I was kidding about any 'anger' to take out.... It was a sideways reference to the tone of so many threads in recent weeks! And yesterday was just a lovely day for a short ride before the darkness sets in with this weekend's time change!

Alex sounds like a great kid, and that always comes back to great parents!  I remember a post a year or two back about his accomplishments at a robotics expo or something... sorry if I don't quite have that right!  I'm 51, and have had older step-children in the past, but this is my first experience with an infant!

Funny, some threads are like a brush fire.

You start them, step away, and they seem to just take off on their own.

Well there we go, a thread people can get into. My last bike was my 82 Eddie Lawson KZ1000R1 super bike replica. Going to work on a three lane one way down town running 55 plus in a 45 a Vista Crusier signaling a right turn ahead, I changed lanes just as he turned left. No choice but to lay it down. Standard $1000. right side wreck kit. Did not do my leathers, boots, helmet or gloves any good. A little hard on me as well. I'd rather slide on the pavement than eat the side of a car.

Very nice slope nose. From what I'm hearing selling them back to the Germans is the ticket now. In fact it appears this is the time to be selling not buying. For me the 911 R with the oil cooler air dam and the duck tail is the look. I was playing with the ideas after parking my bike. I picked up a 2.2 T engine and a 2.7. I also bought all the rebuild parts to assemble a 2.5 short stroke with Euro Carrera cyl. kits, E cams and tripple barrel 40IDA3s. They don't give the Zero shaft and oil pumps away either.

After going over the bills with mommy this morning I guess I should be selling not buying. Speaking of Jemal, you may want to rethink taking out your anger on exit ramps. Your whole life has changed recently and you need to think about others needs first. Son Alex was born when I turned 50 and I sold my race team put away my toys and focused on being the best parent I could. Alex is 15 now a freshman in high school, marching band, honor student, perfect lifetime attendence, at church every sunday just a good guy. Did I have anything to do with that, yes and his mother more so I'd expect. Get busy now as it seems like just the other day she handed me the baby put on her suit and went back to work at two months old. Steve (CTR)

Steve, if you ever have time to waste, check out Magnus Walkers cars.

Magnus is an addict , he has it bad. But he has it sooooooooo good.

//forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/638194-porsche-collection-out-control-hobby.html

If I was keeping my car I'd think about installing a center fill fuel neck. Not sure why, it will be a pain in the a$$ to fill w/petrol, only has a cool factor.

Magnus was kind enough to email me an post more information about how he built his center fill.

Got a real thing for the RS and the RSR's, anyone need a kidney ?

SxS

Thank you for that, I can now go to sleep without my head hurting. Looks to be one of the later Lamborghini based M12 models which would not be out of place in an Italian shop. Rare machine that one is (thankfully).

I have always found these butt-ugly, yes V-12 from Countach, it was nick-named catfish. (Front end treatment)

Mentioned in a later post about quality, may be, but fugly goes thru to the bone.
