Robster make sure all your tranny parts are in place before you do that flush.  Usually they need some rearrangement to ensure proper tooth contact.

When Dan Moffet and I rebuild, we pamper it by ensuring the coat hanger is carefully wind around the crown gear.  It sounds really cool, like straight cut; just the way you like it.

I think it's a great idea - in fact, it's such a fantastic idea with what is obviously a top-dollar high-quality product (not bought at a 99c store) that I can't see the point in refilling with oil afterwards.

Just drain all the oil out, fill her up to the top of the rocker cover with a few more quarts of this snake oil (can't be any more expensive than using something crappy like Valvoline VR1) and the inside of your engine will be super shiny clean.

It may also solve our problem once your car stops working altogether...

Robster

As has been discussed in previous threads here, adding engine cleaning solvents to a Mini can be disastrous. Mini engines and transmissions contain plastic and rubber parts that may not be compatible with some solvents. Then there is the issue of rubberized cork gaskets, ancient adhesives that still work if left alone and metallurgical-like  deposits on lifters, gears and other bits that protect them from wear. Google ZDDP for instance. Or tetraethyl lead.

Your engine may start to leak in places you never knew about, or start sounding like somebody dropped a bunch of marbles into it. But it is your engine, and you may actually enjoy tearing it down and rebuilding it completely

So, you are calling Timo Makinen and his crew "idiots"?

That *looks* to be a BMC Works Momo.  If so they are quite rare - did it come with your car?

This is the only pic I've seen of one.  Timo Makinen, 1967 Tulip Rally.  Last one I saw on eBay was $600.

I should know better, but I'll ask - what is that chrome thing on your air filter case?  I've seen it before in other pictures, but don't know what it is or does?

Any chance you can take a close-up photo?  Looks pretty wicked, must be worth a couple of hp.  I've only got the 'naked' end of my air filter case.
