Thanks for the help. I have both sets of fuel gauges, old and new. My preference would be to just go with the original old style as that would be the easiest. If you have one you could part with that would make my life much easier. Let me know what you would need for it if you have one. Again thanks for helping and if anyone else needs older rare mini parts, I have a bunch, I am more than happy to help people get these great cars back on the road

I may have a set that I might not use as I will most likely replace with the newer stabilized versions.

It sounds like you have the newer gauge already, so the old style sender I have will not work anyway.

I need to pull them out and test them again to make sure they work properly. I am about ready to put the tank back in.

I have a new speedo / gauge cluster with the voltage stabilizer that I will probably use. That means buying a later style tank that the later model sending units will fit. That gets kind of spendy, has anyone been able to fit a later style sending unit to the old tank with the screw mounting. Not too concerned about originality, more concerned about working and being safe. Who would have thought such a little thing could cause so much work.

The early tank with the early (bolt-on) sender requires the use of the older fuel gauge (thin needle that bounces around).  If you still have an early gauge then hunting for an early sender makes sense.  However, it will be easier to get one from the U.K. as noted by Bill (contact Nick at Min-e-bitz.com).  If on the other hand you do not have the early fuel gauge anymore, it makes more sense to buy a replacement later tank and sender and use the later gauge with the voltage stabilizer.  Of course... if you are going for originality, you will want all the early parts that are correct for your car.

Alternatively, you could use whatever combination you can get your hands on and buy the Fuel Gauge Wizard from Spiyda Design in the U.K.  It was designed to allow matching just about any fuel gauge to any sender you can imagine.

I am looking for a fuel tank sending unit for a 1962 mk1 mini. Used is fine, it has the 6 hole mounting plate. I will try the easy way first and see if anyone might have one stashed away. Thanks for any help finding one of these
