As Malsal says, check vacuum lines to ECU first as they are a very common source for problems. I've had fluctuating revs on a few cars and traced fault to the temp sensor which is located underneath the inlet manifold giving a bad signal. However, I would assume you would have noticed this before changing the fuel pump it if this sensor was at fault?

Check all the vacuum lines from the ecu to the air box, it is usually the elbows that fail.

Yup, all good, pump primes, then shuts off, then i crank, and pump continues to run!!, all working weel,  Only thing i have now is the rpm is up and down at 1300 to 1500.!!  maybe something cuasing it, a vacuum line? or maybe its the automatic choke? or maybe its cold and trying to get to temp,?

not sure!

as soon as you turn on the key,you will hear a sound , the pump will start priming, filling up empty spaces inside the gas line.

getting 12 volts to sender wires on fwhen turned to the full ignition.

And getting full 12V on pump wires on full crank only, so it must be fine, Will know when i put pump in,!

Im guessing once motor starts, then the ECU and eletronics take over and send signal to pump during car running!

Might have been if he had died in a rally car accident but he didn't. Anyway leave this topic on subject for once Robster.

wow no wonder Colin died young, this is his motto in life:

"If you are not sure what is after next corner, all you have to do is put your feet on acceleration to the floor ... flat out; in other words, go all out, risk!"

jizzz... bad advice.. lol

malsal. quite right. if you listen you can hear the fuel pump when you cut on the ign switch.   the fuse is the right side is fifth one down.. and then change to 20 or even 30 amp from 15 amp. also helps.. ..( set up to hande 50 amps. and NOT burn up..

I dont get any voltage when key in full electronics, but only when i crank the motor over fully.  I am in the middle of putting in a brand new pump !.

And just want to make sure if this is the way Mini has done the system.  Thanks Ryan

1996 SPi mini Japanese. got it 2 weeks ago!!

It would seem to make sense that it needs voltage before the cranking begins in fact i have heard spi pumps activate when the ignition is turned on. Before you replace the pump run a hot wire from the battery to make sure yours is actually bad, if the car runs then you may have a bad relay or fuse.
