Well, I suppose that a cable without a ferrule could be considered a fashion statement.

still waiting for a kind hearted fellow who can loan me a flywheel puller??

Just because you turn the fan around does not mean the flow will change direction IT WON"T , look at the blades and imagine them turned around they face the same direction it will still push air through the inner fender just with a lot more force and efficiently. It is a common mistake to install the fan incorrectly that a lot of Mini owners make. You are so hell bent that people are picking on you and taking the pi$$ all the time you don't know when to listen and learn something for a change.

And, you spent all that time typing that but still couldn't give a response to a simple question.
I might be grasping at straws but, if that ferrule isn't in place, you'll be chasing the problem forever.

And, the fancy $100 cable assembly that you hacked up doesn't do anything differently than the original $10 cable. Well, except for the "coil 'o excess cable" you have laying there... waiting to make for a bad day....

As of right now, you are officially re-assigned the title of "NEWB"

Do you think EVERY mini with the fan on backwards overheats? Nope... Just because the fan is on backwards does not assure that it will overheat. All it means is that the airflow through the rad diminishes as vehicle speed increases. I've seen PLENTY of minis with the fan on backwards, and the owner totally oblivious to it, and never had an issue with overheating...

We tell you things, you don't listen. We ask you things, you ignore. End result, you have to buy your own flywheel puller. Aint life wierd....

It's been fun, but this place is done. I have no hatred, and appreciate the good times. But this place now belongs to Tony and his pink mini.

Zip, sometimes one wishes one had a 2 x 4...

If you remember when we were digging up part numbers for electronic ignitions for the 59D4, discussing the 123 unit, oil filters (don't think he understood that Unipart = made by Fram...) it was fruitless.  How many times have I asked him about his tropical fan?  Yes, it's attached to the pulley; congratulations.  Now, TURN IT the right way AROUND already!

And, he tends to interpret what he reads differently than it's written.  Insinuating that his mini has automotive herpes is not the same as saying Tony has herpes.  And playing the race card every now and again; it's getting old...

Let's face it - he's the kind of guy who'll paint a red 'X' on the side of his boat to mark the spot where he caught the most fish.

The peasants are revolting...

Great! Now would you please answer the question I've asked three times now?
In my convoluted way I'm trying to help......
And, like I've said, if you don't know what "ferrule" I'm talking about, just ask.

You can't push with a piece of string.

Put the return spring inside the car and you will effectively be trying to close the throttle by pushing the cable.
This is not clever.
It is not OE, and I cannot think of a single application where any manufacturer does it - because it ISN'T SAFE.

By all means bugger your car up with cheap-ass spares and dumb-ass modifications, but please, think twice before doing something that can cause you to have an accident involving other people.
