Absolutely the best post I've ever seen on this forum. I literally laughed out loud. And I think it went completely over his head.

Robbie, how do you know your "pistons are tight"? Im curious.

of course, just a little common sense,  i removed all spark plugs, i put my finger on top of the hole and rotate the engine fan slowly, i felt the engine is sucking my finger, i put a little oil and repeat the procedure, the hole sucked my finger more tighter, maybe due to the oil the i put in.

still saving money for the compression tester

Just curious, what colour is the sky in your world?
IE: Where do you come up with this crap?

I think I can answer that for you - Tony once posted that he's got skills from his days with muscle cars, plus his mini does 90.

Maybe he's mistaking his tight pistons by the 'twap' in the exhaust pulse of having overly retarded ignition timing.  I'm sure that the flea-market chrome hairspray cap that he placed over his vacuum unit didn't help dissipate any heat from the unit.

I wonder which vacuum unit he'll choose, not to mention how long it'll last under that shiny thang...

NOW IT'S FINAL, I NEED TO GET ME AN ELECTRONIC DIZZY, whether i like it or not. ,,Jeremy thorpe is so right, the first thing you have to change in a classic mini is the points distributor, switch to electronic.. gosh im so hard headed.,i shouldve listened to him, i hate myself now.

You may have a blown vacuum advance. Easy to replace, cheaper too.

Actually, no.

The mechanical advance advances timing more as rpms increase.

The vacuum advance does the opposite - when the throttle is closed, you get the most vacuum, which pulls on the vacuum advance to ... advance the timing at idle. As you begin to open the throttle, the vacuum subsides, the vacuum advance relaxes and the timing is set back for the mechanica advance to start its job. The purpose of the vacuum advance is to save fuel while the car is idling.... fuel economy. To set timing, the vacuum advance is to be disconnected to make the adjustment. Otherwise the timing will not be corect for when the mechanical advance starts its work. Of course, if you'd read up on it, you'd already know this. So, your timing may still be off.

That is a great question. I wouldn't know where to begin to answer that if I were Velocity.

(If I were Velocity, I guess you could say I'd be clueless)

Actually im not a member of any other forums. Just this one. I do own a mini. I'm actually a really nice guy.

the letter "u" and the letter "a" are pretty far apart on the keyboard. You intentionally called me gay and implied that I have a small penis. Who's the child now Robbie? Still avoiding those questions eh?

I would have thought that Tony would have done what he said he'd do.

This thread (//www.minimania.com/msgThread/116311/1/1/sick_and_tired#1078487 ) revealed a lot...

I gave him this:

I've found that even if I don't need to install a part or don't need to get involved with a particular system, it doesn't hurt to familiarize myself and know where I can find the answers later on.

He replied this:
