100cc difference in power is very significant... paddy hopkirk won the 1964 Monte rally driving 1071cc,,if he used 998, he would've been the last to finish

I've missed this place

Well i guess he has admitted to lying.

Don't worry Robster half the problem is understanding the problem to begin with - maybe you're on the road to recovery ? But i think NOT !!!!!!!!!!!!

Come to think of it Robster didn't you bet your manhood on another thead, i believe Lorena Bobbit is free this weekend if you need a visit from her, she has past experience in the removal process.

Interesting Mur, maybe mine is original then.

In that case Robster won't be a buyer as his Mini already does 90 mph.

Why do you have a carbon fibre look brake pedal cover mounted to your inlet manifold?

Plenty of power for around town. Don't have any problem keeping up with traffic.
Oh, and no it doesn't mark it's spot with oil pouring out. [rolleyes]

i need to find ways how to make my lowly 998 faster..

Buy the engine with the gear ratio it has from an MG 1100 it would fly up to 60 mph.

a bit touchy Mur.  I think the adaptor plates are difficult to source, and that was my point. It was late and I could not even remember the needed plate when I posted.

//www.guess-works.com/Tech/engine.htm

Not even got a 3.44 fd.

Low-compression motor with a 3.65 fd.
I'd guess the original 1098 went bang and this is the replacement engine, transplanted complete.

Given the free and easy theft of other peoples photographs (see other thread), the general off-his-meds attitude and lies, I suspect that Nobster will once again duck the call of CUSTARD with regards to his engine number and car in general.

Yes Alex. It appears to be factory. I have had good luck with the later 998's.

Robster where do you have that "rigged" overly long throttle cable routed, it does not look correct (imagine that).

Zip it is doubtful the po did anything to improve the internals of this engine based on the dog leg clutch arm that was on this car when Robster aquired it.

Spank is an arsonist

He lit the flame and is sitting back basking in the warmth of the flames of this post.

Funny, some posts are interesting, go nowhere. Others take off like wildfire.

Spank is MIA, Spank.....where are you ?

Asleep probably, there is an 8hr time difference...

Standard (boring) 998 and nothing special about it at all.
Lots of potential, but you're too cheap and stupic to release the potential of it.

The power unit is from an MG 1100 and so has an 1100/1300 sandwich mount shifter. Calling it a remote and then asking if it might be a remote when it looks like the unit came straight out of a car forty years ago is probably not a worthwhile enterprise. But you know, maybe it is an air shifted Spicer 13 speed. Hard to tell from the photos.

the lump is from an 1100 and  a remote shifter.  Can't see in the pics if it's a cooper style remote. Does it come with the shifter housing? Different than the cooper style.
