Leave it where it is. You could not have asked for a better result.

Your knowledgeable Mini Friends have got it the wrong way round - you advance by 2º to account for the chain stretch, so you're already at your target timing.

I am rebuilding my 1968 Morris Cooper S 1275 and I am timing the cam. It's a Kent 266 cam and should be 106 degrees. Well, it comes in at 104 degrees. Therefore, I need to get an offset key to retard it by 2 degrees. However, other Mini enthusiasts have told me to go 4 degree offset to account for chain stretch. I will probably only put on 1000 miles per year. How much would my chain stretch and then it will be advanced 2 degrees until the chain stretches. Anyway to install a tensioner under the front cover without going to an A plus cover. I want to keep it original looking. Thoughts?
