According to the factory parts books, the extension part (x2) were used on export Van, Wagon, and Utility (P/U).  The book says that only UK and N. Ireland had the flat panel only.  Anyway, I recall seeing one in my storage shed just yesterday, but it is in bad condition.  Must go back and pull it to see actual condition.  Will check on it in a few days and let you know.

The Swiss one may light up better as the factory UK ones don't the light does not project but having a shorter length American plate/tag is not helping either, time to change to LED's.

The one with the extension was delivered in Switzerland and the one without in the UK.

Maybe the Swiss required different lighting treatment. When I took it apart it seemed original.

The one without the extension appears the same as the one Rick posted.

I think the extension is meant for the saloon licence plate mount, to allow the fitment of a North American style licence plate ( taller than the UK ones )

Don't know whether either is original. 1964 has the extenders, the 65 does not.

Please do Terry....I'd like to see the difference.  Maybe the Ausies did things differently

We have not seen snow for some time in our neck of the woods...local ski hills that opened now shut down one never opened.

No snow in our watershed does not bode well for water supply, increases risk of forest fires etc.

As for mounting the shorter/wider B.C. plate, 2 new holes were needed in the mounting panel.  I think the longer term solution would be to make a new mounting panel.

Yes....same lights as saloon boot.

Where do you put the BC licence when in use? ( or was that pic taken while still down under?)

Now kindly remove that whole assembly and mail it to me :-)

And why is there no damn snow in that picture!?

Yes,,,...that's the panel I need Rick.

I think the lights are just run of the mill MkI/II saloon lights.....and there are two brackets behind for support...I can make those up easily enough.

Hi Spitz,

My '73 Aussie Window Van has lights for the rear plate simply bolted onto the mounting panel.

Let me know what you have.  Email is in profile

(anyone have a closeup picture of the brackets for the holder? )

Thanks
