I have an MG 1100 but I believe the boots are the same as the mini seeing as how the CV joint is the same - I replaced mine using the info on Todd's Austin america site and the 1990 Suzuki Swift with automatic transmission boot worked - I just cannot remember if it was an inner or outer boot - I believe it was the outer one but not sure as Todds site had the wrong one listed when I did it. Worked just fine for me and then I found a couple of good kits on ebay UK and have rebuilt a spare set with those. The suzuki ones have not seen a lot of use but seem to be holding up OK over time - been on about 3 years. $8 each at rock auto
cheers

While CV boots aren't as good as they used to be (blame the tree huggers and consequently the Chinese), driveshaft angle may play a part in rapid failures - they certainly seem to go faster on cars with the wrong engine fitted.
Short driveshafts, often fitted at wonky angles seem to create more heat/wear in the boot and faster failure.

I am not recommending this, but it was listed in the thread above:

Just throing out there - What about ATV / UTV boots? they really gotta be built tough to take the extreme abuse. Ive had my share of ATV's and never seen a busted boot!
Perhaps a stop to the Powersports shop might help (if they stock any)

Silicon rubber is as weak as a kitten and not suitable for this application.
I reccomened the Japanese made CV boots for minis, but they are about $80 a pop.

Great, I have some Sprint axles too but no boots to check. Please let me know what you find out on those Geo units. I have pics of the G10 frame for the PUP....had to set it aside during my move, but finally getting organized in my new place, so hope to get back on the truck soon. Will email you with pics

Steve, I have abunch of Geo Metro axles with what looks like OEM boots in good shape, let me pull one n see if it looks like it'll fit. I also have one of rubeGoldberg 3 cyl carbs that you like. I'll give you the carb If you want it. How's your pickup coming along? Still need a subaby for a Sprint 3cyl turbo, would love a peek at your subframe. My Toyota cv boots have 222000 miles and look new(ish) - what ever the OEMs use works, I've heard the Italian made cv boots for a Mini are the best avail, sourcing is the issue.

Thanks, I will check the fit on those Geo boots at the local parts store this week. Maybe if I get them at a Chevy dealership, they will be better quality.

Although i have never used one i seem to remember someone saying a Geo/Chevy Metro one fits, trouble is they are probably made with crap materials too.

Got under the Mini today to adjust ride height and per usual, started finding other problems. a CV boot was riped in half with grease everywhere. I am tired of replacing these things with the crap aftermarket boots and was wondering if anybody knows of a boot from a Japanese car that will fit the Mini Disc brake CVs?
Thanks, Steve
