so where did you buy the the goodyear tires you have? i am interested in them as a knock around tire. i have seen prices from $285 for a set of 4 to $25 each? interesting thread and as i fully understand the "dot" issue of requirement i dont think most folks here look at the bigger picture of compliance.

every revin mini in the states is non dot approved our host sells golf cart tires and non approved tires? most imported minis have non approved headlamps, tires, brake fluid, windscreen glass, etc not even sure if the vtec swap kits they sell here are dot approved either?

have never heard of someone being prosecuted for getting in an accident with non dot tires? but maybe it has happened?

I'm running the Goodyear Eagles for my "around town" tires. I've put about 1.5K miles on them without any problems. They're well balanced and track straight. Admittedly I've never pushed them to too hard... yet. The other set of tires (photos 1187 & 1188) are Yokohama 032s —ironically non DOT rated.

I like the way the Goodyears look, and because their circumference is smaller than the Yokos, they don't rub. The Yokos scrape on the flairs under hard, sharp cornering and speed bumps. Best of all, the Goodyears are 1/4 the price of the Yokos.

I could not imagine being in a golf cart at 90mph.  I can barely imagine being in my mini at 90 mph. =)

This one might do 90......

None of the normal Mini bulkhead issues with that Webber set up.

Just an observation, don't they sell golf cart tires in a 205 series and if so why not use them ?

What if the Mini is registered with the DMV as a golf cart?  Does that make a difference?

I don't think 165/70 tyres on a 7" rim is all that bad, heck we used to stretch 145/10s over 6" widened Mini rims back in the 60s..

Yeah I know 165/70 section on a 7" rim is well off the tyre & rim association's scale...Wink

The stretch isnt as bad as people think , a half inch pulled out each side isnt a huge deal..6 inch wide fits good..7 fits fine with the 165 ,tire bulge still sticks out further then the rim..its not going to be stanced/stretched to the max..was just a cheap set of wheels thats been tested and i wanted to buy to FIT SLICKS ON THE FRONT FOR DRAG.i know these arent drag cars but in the right hands people are doing pretty decent over at the 16v club turning good times And id like to try it out since thats my hangout scene and this seems more of a challenge

The car is not "tracked" for, turns so im safer

Spank,

it's like a drunk saying 'I'm OK to drive'.  If the wheels were road rated fine.  Meanwhile, thanks for the warning. I'll run when I see your trailer.

The older you get, the more you understand how dear life really is, and if you can save a life or a few lives, go for it. Sometimes that awareness sinks in. sometimes not.

My trailer rides on 4 10" "golf cart" wheels and 4 Carlisle trailer tires (That I've seen some people put on minis). I've hauled several vehicles that weight over 2000 lbs over thousands of miles at upwards of 80mph.

(I've even used regular passenger rated radials on still another trailer-- GASP!)

Has anyone checked out the DOT rated trailer wheels and tires in the 12", 10" and 8" sizes lately? Waaay sketchier than some golf car wheels I've seen.

I think some of us get a bit heavy-handed with the self-righteous postings sometimes (I myself am one of the top offenders, admittedly).

But you did ask a question so were seemingly welcoming opinions, so no harm in folks posting them.

They will have slicks mounted to the fronts and used as my "drag strip" wheels but will be used to drive to the local drag. But im honestly second guessing the quality of the mini wheels now for the most part after looking into the load ratings lol

Sorry i was just amazed on how easy they went on after hearing everyone say they take there tires to have them mounted by a machine...id rather not hsve a machine touch the lip if not necessary

no point in lengthing this thread. If he puts his wheels over his life and others, then he can't understand what I've said.  Reminds me of the guy who kept changing his screen name.

Jersey, to be clear, I'm not exactly supporting your decision to run true golf cart only wheels on your car. Just trying to show that there are options out there. I really hope you consider the amount of force you'll be putting on the wheels and especially the power from the vtec. You may have some good wheels that can handle it... you may not. Be safe and keep it between the lines.
