Yes, about 3/4 inch in each side. Will trailer it by my interior guy for a price for new cover. Will ask if he can steam and stretch it. Did you find a number for the place in Fla? I have a roof panel and the where with all to install. Just need a home for the webasto. Steve (CTR)

If you have to have one I think I will remove the one in our car and weld in a real roof. Full length electric with black material no rips always garaged, I'll remove it you take it from there offers? Steve (CTR)

I'm not nearly ready yet, but I am glad there are a lot of people that don't like sunroofs... I had terrible experience with the sunroof on my Mazda MX3 when i had it... and won't buy a daily driver with a sunroof ever again... but I happen to have a Mini with a terribly dented roof (snow fell off roof of PO onto mini) and I am thinking a big webasto will be perfect for a sunday cruiser

Make me an offer if you're interested.  Actually I'd sell the whole car for parts.

There was and may still be a Webasto dealer in Jacksonville Florida which may be able to help. The notching tool if you want to use it once and go cheap should be available at Harbour Freight.

Steve when sunroofs leak like that it is usually when the drain channels are blocked, i just did a Civic with that exact problem.

First Mini we bought to build had a Weathershield Sunroof which we dyed from Tan to Black to go with the Black over Red paint job on the sedan.

I have to tell you that it was open only a few times over 10 years...the first time I had it open on its trip to debut at the Portland All British in 1993, my ball cap flew up up and away on the I5 south of Tacoma.  Recovered the cap, closed the sun roof and I never opened it again.

That Mini was my son's first car and the few times he opened the sun roof were at shows like the Vancouver All British.  Then some asshat threw a beer bottle at the Mini and the broken bottle flew up in the air cutting a hole in the top.  Fortunately a new Weathershield was sourced to replace it...and it stayed closed too.

Went to MMW in Costa Mesa/Irvine in 2002 and navigated in the rally for the new owner of an original S.  The S had a sunroof missing several parts in the sliding mechanism, fit loosely...oh well.

Just saying....

I also have one in the body shop for floor rust repair now. We will have to have a new cover made as the old one has shrunk along the sides. If it were a real Cooper S I'd install a new roof panel. At this point in my life I will not screw up any more Cooper or Cooper S cars. It's yours so go for it. I feel it will reduce the value of your car. And if you never drive in the rain so what. I'm with Coopertune on this one.  I wouldn't chop any part of the roof to fit a Sunroof.  They get worse as they age as well. Shrinkage is a real problem, and I had to get a Soft Top specially made after the Original Full length shrunk and started to leak.  It was a Jap Spec one though, which opened electrically from Front to Back, but, you could also wind it open from Back to Front.

Maybe I can help. I've had the template from when my Webasto was installed years ago. Just last week, figuring I'd never need it for anything I used it to keep paint from getting on my garage floor. The template is for an electric Webasto. If this is the one you need, I'll gladly send it to.

At the risk of being blunt, I'd sell that bitch and never look back. I have heard you can't buy them now.

OT: sort of. I placed my mini on the trailer and put both in the storage unit and left heat at 40 degrees. It snowed several times was cold as heck and then rained like crazy. Got mini out first time yesterday and it poured down. I have a steel webasto factory installed in a new bare shell in the UK. Been told the unit was from a small BMW. Hand crank type. As much as it helped me seeing people smile and wave that cold water leaking down the back of my neck around tight turns was no fun. Hard enough to keep water out of a mini with out cutting holes in it. Steve (CTR)

a jig saw will do the trick. when you draw your lines and before you cut . measure the rectangle corner to corner like am X. the measurements should be spot on which means your rectangle is square.  also I would drill holes at each corner giving you a radius rather than a right angle which can start a crack.
