The Elf lamps are similar to the spridgets, but not the same, they are the same as Mk1 MG 1100 lamps though.

If not mistaken, those on the Elf are same taillights used on Spridgets. Having owned several of those, I believe the design change for 1970 Midget went to yellow turn signals. I always thought that was the first year US allowed yellow. My 69 Sprite had red which I changed to yellow just to be different. Back before I had that titled antique, I had a PA inspection mechanic tell me they should be red to the letter of the law. Must meet regs in place for model year?? My US spec 63 Mini Traveller has all red as it sold new in NJ. I was going to got to yellow TS until I realized how rare the all red ones are.

My 63 pickup has all red lenses. They do pop up on eBay every so often.

I got all red at Mini Spares 6 years ago....apparently no longer available . Makes me wonder if they were using  old stock that is now exausted...hard to believe these cannot be reproduced ....just reading this thread it is apparent there are folks looking for them .

You will find MK2/3 clear rear lenses are just as elusive as the red lenses. MK4 clear lenses, no problem but will not fit the earlier cluster which is not as tall. If you do find some clear MK3 lense I would be keen to know where.

The all red MK II lenses are cool beyond words, don't give them up. Also, I have never run a MK I with anything but red.

Funny, being a US-market Cooper S, my car came with all-red taillight lenses and I have thought about changing them to UK spec!

I didn't realize these were of any signifance at all, but I suppose since they're original to the car I'll probably use them after all.

I do not think you can paint from the inside. There are too many different surfaces, it will never look right as this tint is very thin and doesnt bond to sharp edges well (like the edges of all the bevels on the inside). Just google it and follow what others have done. Wet sanding and a top clear coat should have them looking very nice.

Needed a flasher unit for my car yesterday. Dropped by John's shop 9000 sq ft two thirds shelves of NOS Lucas. He was able to find the part numbers for what we think are the red uppers. Still none on hand, but he goes to all the shows and does buy outs. Steve (CTR)

I think it was Pennsylvania that had all red MK II tail lamps. These are very rare, but they do show up from time to time.

I have seen some Mk.II all red lenses on ebay from time to time, but they are extremely rare.

Your only option is to buy clear lenses and paint them as 66coop did.
