Thanks for the pics.  I'll use one set and send the other set back.  The MS set is the same as others I have seen.  I successfully mounted one rear flare last night.  Today I will struggle with the front after I cut 3/4 of an inch off of the bumper.  I just don't want to get out the fiberglass resin and cloth and reshape anything.  I think that I have an issue with the transision between the bumper lip and fender.  It appears that the PO or previous bodyman added some extra metal and bondo here.  What a pain................

Probably reinforcing the same - but yes- group 2's can go as high or low on the fender as you want to close up wheel gap. Mine sit about 1/2 - 3/4 above the fender lip mounted. and the space grows behind the front bumper.

So now you have 2 sets of group 2's, Do you want to sell a set? I was actually about to order from MS last week.  No Contact info in your profile- Email if you like [email protected]

Subyguy, great pics.  Thanks!  It looks like I will have to cut 3/4 of an inch off of my bumpers then it will be quite like yours.  My new flares are the same as my 1st set 28.5 inchs for the fronts.  I don't know why the companies can't make these flares fit better.  All that I have seen suck!

OK, I got some other Group II flares.  They are exactly the SAME... .....size and fit  AAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!  I think that I may try to bend the flares to my Minis' shape and then glass them to stay in that shape.  Maybe I'm just not mounting them high enough on the fender.  Lastly, I may take the bumper off and tuck them behing the fron bumper.

Frustrated in Wisconsin.

Give you a hint, there's a "Gilcrease" factor, it was Bill's old car.

Looks like an old time mechanic friend took a lot of time and effort to do the job correctly, i don't see any pop rivets :-)

Yes you need the narrower ones simiar to the Jap spec Mini's.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

"Those look like the wider group 2 flares and maybe are meant to run with deep dish 13's where you cut the fenders for clearance thus raising the height of the center of the flare when installed. It looks like you have 12's on your car and if you are staying with them the green flares that SXS posted will be a better fit or you could just trim the front edge off just like the rear one looks/is trimmed in your pic. I have a set of used group 2 and i will measure them if you want me to, come to think of it i have a set on a car right now.

I just went out and measured two narrow sets (same points as you did) and they are both 25 inches."

Well Malsal,  thanks for measuring.  I think that you found the problem.  I need smaller flares.  I currently have 10inch Minilites with A008 Yokos.  I need to order the correct flares.

Here is a pic.  Rear flare at the top, fron on the bottom.  The rear flares appear to fit ok, the front do not.  They are too long.  If I push on the from end to end to shorten them they bunch up too high above the steel arch on the car. The fronts are alomost 29 inches long.

the green flares look like the radius is smaller - I'm thinking the new black flares have sprung open a bit or maybe extended front end ones. I'd compare some quick measurements side to side and see if someone can give you their back-of-wheel opening to edge of bumper.

Randy, hard to tell is the photo.

Think this a pretty good fitting G2 flair for reference. The flair just kisses the bumper.

In your picture it looks like right front lower took a decent whack, could be pushed back quite a bit.

Hows the left side fit ?

Front and rear bumpers are the same shape.... so your problem is with the flare.  Maybe mounted too low... it is definitely the front flair you're showing???? Any pics from the side?

Cheers, Ian

Fellow Minioids,  My group II flares from MS are not fitting.  Maybe it is my bumper that is too far back or else the flares are too big.  The front overlaps the front bumper by  2 inches.  What is wrong here?  Is the bumper on the front for the rear or is it not mounted far enough forward?
